Lito Sheppard hires new agent... Drew Rosenhaus

[Note by JasonB, 07/17/08 8:55 AM EDT ] Thanks to JoeD for the Fanpost... Get ready for a interesting ride....

Lito Sheppard hires an agent Philadelphia fans are all too familiar with -- Drew Rosenhaus. Details were found on the Eagles official website.

The Eagles have confirmed that cornerback Lito Sheppard has hired Drew Rosenhaus as his new agent.

All indications are that Rosenhaus has told the Eagles in a meeting that Sheppard is expected to report to training camp when the veterans report on Thursday, July 24. Rookies and selected veterans report on Monday, July 21.

The Eagles responded to a report from ProFootballTalk.com, which stated that Rosenhaus was hired recently by Sheppard and met with the Eagles in Philadelphia.

Sheppard, who reported to the team's mandatory post-draft mini-camp and then did not participate in the voluntary Organized Team Activities in the spring, is part of the team's deep and talented secondary that includes starting-caliber cornerbacks in Asante Samuel, acquired as an unrestricted free agent in the off-season, and Sheldon Brown, who has been a starter since 2004 and who has played in 105 consecutive regular season and post-season games.

Head coach Andy Reid will likely address the situation, as well as many others, in his kickoff press conference on Monday afternoon at Lehigh University. Make sure to watch it live on Training Camp Live!, which starts at 4:30 p.m.

Anyon else sweating?

I cannot stand Drew, I don’t mind that he looks out for his clients(and his money), but he seems not to give a sh** about the teams that pay his and his players salaries. Chad Johnson, TO, Kearse, Shocky, Stallworth, (many more that I don’t know) and now Lito. Can someone please just tell me that everything is going to be ok. I need someone to say, “The Eagles will have all their DB’s in camp and ready to go all year. Can someone tell me that Lito(Who the Eagles have suggested that he milked his injuries in the past) will not sprain his toe and miss 8 games and show up for the game whenever he feels?

Please brothers tell me something that I want to hear…..

Someone said that an injury to DMac and Cole and we could be off to a 8-8 season again. I don’t feel that way at all. I don’t think that we could do as well as we could with them, but I feel that our 2001 team showed that a top flight D can fuel success. We all know that the birds offense was screen right and screen left in 2001. We won games off of our special teams and D, I think that we could do that agian.

listen

Fuck Lito … if he thinks he is worth more than he is then screw him. We have done well with and without him. We have Asante now and not Will James or Joselio Hanson backing him up. The Eagles are prepared for this if he becomes an issue they will sit him for the year and he will sign somewhere next year making less than he would if he would suck it up and play like the pro bowler we all know he can be. If he wants to be a scumbag we know the Birds can handle it. I don’t think Lito will I think he will swallow his pride and play but no one knows for sure.

just to make this clear

I am a huge Lito fan I even own a jersey, I think he is pro bowl talent and a great guy from what I’ve seen. But I have no patience for someone who cries about millions of dollars when there are hard working americans getting laid off. Play a whole season then come talk to me, shit if I injured my hands and couldn’t work you better believe I would be replaced immediately.

Tru that,

I feel you, I just hope that he can see that he isn’t all that right now. He is a pro bowl talent. But, there were many players that were on that level and couldn’t stay healthy. Joey Galloway, C. Williams, David Boston, Terry Glenn, Jason Sehorn, etc… These guy’s all couldn’t stay healthy. These guy’s also don’t have huge demands or were cut or traded.

Let’s hope that Lito sees that he needs to honor his contract and do what he needs to make a difference. When it comes time for Lito and Brown and Westbrook to get new deals I hope that the Eagles do their part to. Yes, Drew is the devil on their shoulders.

Lito story is getting a little old

I am sick of Lito trying to act like he is Primetime. Granted, he is good, not great. He needs to show up and play ball and stop crying. I hate that he is being a distraction this year. If he didn’t like his contract, why did he sign it.

This is the beginning of the end...

You want to get out of Philly, here’s the best thing to do… Get angry about your contract… and then hire Dick Rosenhaus.

26 is gone. The only way we might get lucky is that I dont think anyone thinks Lito is worth the money he wants. That wasnt the case at all with TO.

We all know there is no way the Eagles give him what he wants… they’re sort of the like the US when it comes to negotiating with terrorists…. They’d let him go long before they give in to Rosenhaus

Concretefield can suck it

The Eagles cant rework his deal now

Its obvious that he dislikes his contract, and he has made it somewhat obvious. The don’t like to be made to look weak. If this was all handled behind closed doors. He may have gotten something worked out. Rosenhaus is not the way.

I dont see how Lito can win

No one wants to give up anything for him
- he can’t stay healthy
- He had a horrible season last year
- he can’t just skip out on the games/camp cuz hes replaceable.

hope he goes about this the right way (if he were smart)

If all he wants is money I’m sure the Raiders would throw some at him.
