B-West, Number 20?

Are you serious, Brian Westbrook? No way he's number 20. In what? -- are some thoughts we Eagles fans are probably having.

Well,  SportLine.com (CBS) just released a list recently, a list that that includes players like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and LT. Yea, the Top 50 players in the NFL. hurr's da link

And as if it's not bad enough Westbrook is all the way down at number 20, he's behind players like DB Champ Bailey (understandable, but not OK), DE Mario Williams (not OK), DT Albert Haynesworth (he ain't that good), and (get this) DB Charles Woodson, the number friggin 2 cornerback on his own team.

And look at some of the things they wrote about B-West, in the quote, it's almost like there can never be anything positive ever said in the mainstream media about our Iggles or anyone ever affilliated with us....

Star-divide

here's the quote:

20. Brian Westbrook, RB, Philadelphia Eagles: It's scary to think what the Eagles offense would be like without him. He's a better runner inside the tackles than many expected and he's good in the passing game. He's a versatile weapon.

[Note by Remis, 06/29/08 8:35 PM GST ] Gcobb.com released an article that pretty much says what i said AFTER i posted this so, please don't think that i copied off of Gcobb...

Poll
Where should Brian Westbrook be on this list?
  • Top 5
  • Top 10
  • Top 15
  • Around where he's at
  • Lower than 20
  • Not on the list (there will be some, i swear)

I’m not sure I can argue with the ranking. B-West is the 3rd rated RB in homeboy’s rankings behind LT and AP.
When you compare Apples to Apples that seems about right. Then you have to start comparing apples to oranges next: Running Back vs. Defensive Tackle. Not sure it’s even appropriate to compare the two, but when you consider that there are over 1600 active players in the league, BWest is in the top 1.25%.

whats tough to swallow

is that he is ranked 3rd behind Adrian Peterson. Don’t get me wrong Peterson’s rookie campaign was one for the ages but it was one year Westbrook at least has some consistency on his side. I’d also like to note that Peterson is on a running team where Westbrook is on a pass happy team.

Peterson

Is getting a bit more than his share of props this year that’s for sure…

People have been pounding here chest with this guy

I really do not believe in him. I don’t like his style, and he hasn’t accomplished years of consistancy for people to be going bananas for him. I reminds me of a really fast better verson of Buckhalter (maybe its because of his high running style and up and down attach with little jukes and shakes). Maybe its just me.
