So I'm going to an Arena football game...
Thanks to some comp tickets from from my pal FrankD over at Pensburgh , I'll be heading to my first arena football game tomorrow night. Our hometown Philadelphia Soul , owned by Bon Jovi & Ron Jaworski, will be taking on Bernie Kosar's Cleveland Gladiators.
Admittedly, I don't really watch arena football and I don't know a whole lot about the Soul. However, I have discovered that they have a QB that's really good but always gets hurt... So as I an Eagles fan there's something I can immediately identify with...
I'm pleasantly surprised to find out that not only are the Soul good, they're the best team in the Arena league.
They also have some pretty interesting fans.
So have any BGN readers been to a Soul game? What were your thoughts? would you guys be interested in hearing my impressions after the game?

Soul
Watched them beat up on the Avengers. I was one of 4 people from Philly in the stands. Avenger fans hated me by the end of the game (37 straight points in the 2nd half). Its not NFL or college football, but it can make for a fun evening, especially if you’re in need of a football fix.
I had season tickets for one season, and have been to a decent number of games. It’s not a bad offseason substitute for the real thing. What I’ve found is that the indoor game almost resembles basketball in the respect of the way the game flows. Unlike the outdoor game, field position really isn’t that important. It’s more about possessions and being able to stop the other team. You’ll be surprised how often the offense is able to score and what is considered good defense.

Love it.
Since i went to my first game last season, I’ve been hooked. We had a decent season last year and a great season this year and, unlike the Eagles, the Soul have a number one WR in Larry Brackens who is amazing to watch. 6’4” 220lbs and he even does endzone dances. But the other cool thing this year is that we have two excellent quarter backs with Graziani and D’Orazio so it’s been pretty amazing when Graziani goes down. Last year was funny though, the one thing not in high demand in Arena football is the kicker and usually they move around a bit…but last year we had Todd France…remember that guy? He used to be the backup for the Eagles a few years back, and he sucks in arena football too.
But this is an amazing game to watch, especially when you see someone take a hit and go flying over a 3 foot wall into the stands…also, if its a home game, watch for Jaworski (he’s always there in the front row on our sideline) yelling obscenities at the referees…its classic. But I did watch him patiently sign autographs for fans during the game the last time I was there. Btw, when he was yelling those obscenities at the refs, he was sitting next to two nuns who were nodding him on…classic.
