Who's getting cut, and who's making the team?

I wanted to see everyones opinion as to how many rookies are making the squad and who's spot they will take.

DE - Trevor Laws,

WR -  DeSean Jackson,

DE -  Bryan Smith,

G/C -  Mike McGlynn,

S - Quinten Demps,

CB - Jack Ikeguano, (IR likely)

G/T - Mike Gibson,

LB - Joe Mays,

OLB/DE - Andy Studebaker,

T - King Dunlap.

Also Lorenzo Booker.

Also, Does, Klecko make the squad over Davis?

Please list your team predicions below. Also, what will the surpise cuts be?

Cuts

Of course, these are just my uneducated guesses:

1.) Mike Gibson – If we keep the same starting 5 along the offensive line from last year then there is enough depth with Jean-Gilles, Justice, Young and now McGlynn. I don’t see room to keep 10 OLs. (Did we last year?)
2.) Joe Mays – If we keep six LBs I think it will be Gaither, Gocong, Bradley, Boiman, Jordan and Studebaker.
3.) King Dunlap – Probably too raw of a prospect.

Also, I think Schobel is gone with the addition of Kris Wilson. I think Davis makes the team over Klecko because he’s more of a natural fit at the position. And I think the most interesting cut might have to do with running backs. Moats is obviously gone but we probably won’t carry 4 RBs on the roster. So who else gets cut – Booker, Hunt or Buckhalter? I’d probably have to say Buckhalter because he’s got an injury history (even though he played well the past two years) and he’s older than everyone else.

There are probably other cuts but I’ll leave it at that for now.

Eagles Roster

A typical Andy Reid Eagles roster has:

9 or 10 OL
3 TE
5 or 6 WR
3 QB
3 or 4 RB and 1 or 2 FB (so 5 RB+FB)

4 or 5 DE and 4 or 5 DT (so 9 or 10 DL)
6 or 7 LB
4 or 5 CB
4 S

1 K, 1 P
0 or 1 LS

The PR and KR is 1 of the WR, RB, CB, or S obviously.

Remember, it has to both total 53 and have a sensible make-up for a game-day group of 45 with the remaining 8 in street clothes.

I don’t think the Eagles have ever cut a guy from the 1st to 4th rounds as a rookie, so you have to think all those guys make the team barring injury – Laws, Jackson, Smith, McGlynn, Demps, and Booker.

Surprise cuts?

Sean Considine if they keep JR Reed? Honestly, though, I think Reed is gone. Mikell and Dawkins are both safe.

Monte Reagor if he can’t get healthy and productive this year. There’s way too many D-tackles on the roster who would play just fine in the #3, 4, and 5 spots – Howard, Ramsey, Clark, Laws, and Klecko. Those guys are really in a touch spot since Laws is almost certain to make the team, it leaves 4 or 5 guys depedning on what Klecko is viewed as chasing 2 spots.

Jon Dorenbos if they keep Darren Howard and Mike McGlynn, with McGlynn becoming the regular Long Snapper. A guy who just Long Snaps is a wasted roster spot.

Avant or Baskett if they don’t keep 6 WR.

The LG and back-up O-line spots also seem pretty competitive. You have a field of Herremanns, Young, Jean-Gilles, McGlynn, Mays, Dunlap, Cole, Rodgers, and Justice. 9 guys chasing 5 or maybe 6 spots.

Someones got to go at D-End too. if you assume Cole, Thomas, and Clemmons are safe, there’s only two spots for Howard, Smith, McDougle, and Abiamiri to fight over. Even assuming McDougle is gone, which seems a safe assumption, someone else is in for a surprise ending.
