Eagles rookie pool announced

I honestly have never heard that this is how it works...

Even though agents and teams get around the rookie pool with contract escalators, post first-year option bonuses and one-time incentives, the rookie pool was created to somehow slot the signings of draft choices by the position they were selected. Each selection in the draft is given a value, which is a predetermined cap number. All rookies, including undrafted rookies, have to fit within the assigned rookie pool.

The Kansas City Cheifs were given the largest rookie pool and the Cleveland Browns got the lowest. The Eagles were right in the middle of the league with a rookie pool of $4,256,320. They have 10 picks to sign.

Raheem Brock

Isn’t this why we lost Raheem Brock a few years ago? I am pretty sure he was let go because they could not find a way to sign him with the rookie allowance.

I believe you are right

I just didn’t previously know that different teams got different allowances arbitrarily(somewhat) from the NFL.

Raheem Brock

We had money for Raheem Brock, but he held out and refused to sign for the amount of money that was left. That has to be the only time in the NFL a 7th round pick has held out and refused to sign a contract.

What a disaster that was for us, but good for him and the Colts.

but honestly who gives that kind of respect to a 7th rounder

I honestly think the only reason the Eagles drafted him was because he went to Temple. But it takes massive balls to hold out as a seventh rounder … I thought they just cut him.

Funny story about Raheem Brock

Rookie player pool = teams need bodys, in playing shape, to practice throughout the year. Football is a war of attrition and manpower will be needed.

Raheem Brock…funny story about him at Temple.

My brother is an alum and a professor in the school of business.

Raheem got an F in his class. When I asked him why he failed? He said Raheem made 0 effort to pass his class. We’re both season ticket holders and I bust his balls about how Raheem Brock is making multi-millions now. I think getting out of Philadelphia was good for the former owl.

Interesting enough, if you go through the Eagles roster, theres a strong possibility that all
10 players make the team. Eagles has stragically let players go, and drafted their replacements. Unlike last year were 4 draft picks were cut. I think most will make this team. Can you beleive than King (stinking) Dunlap may be your back up tackle. There is no one else in camp other than Pat McCoy. They have no backup line backers, Joe Mays will likely fill that spot, they have no backup Sam backer, Studebacker will likely be that Guy. Mike McGlynn will take Nick Coles spot as Backup Center, and Mike Gibson will likely be your other backup Guard along with Jean-Gilles. Makes sence why they draft Ikeguanu (they can just IR him) he doesn’t take a roster spot. He will take Hansens spot Next year. JR Reed is really on the buble, Demps is making this team as backup FS.

Eagles will have to find a way to sign all players. They will cut Pat McCoy, Nick Cole, JR Reed, Pago Togafau, Buckhalter, Moats, Howard, Greg Lewis, Nick Graham. And Possibly John Dorenbos (if they can find another long snapper). That should fill up some mad cap space for the rookies. Unless they really suck like Barksdale and Gaddis from last year. (even though I would have kept Barksdale over Graham).
