Controversy at Minicamp?
Sal Paolantonio writes (pretty pessimistically) about the Eagles minicamp...What do you guys think? Is it hard to take the analysis seriously when the photo of Lito Sheppard is actually Correll Buckhalter?
Here's what I thought was the most interesting snippet from the article:
"The Eagles, 8-8 last season, always seemed to be just a play away. In fact, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Eagles played in more close games last season than any other team in the league. For 78 percent of the playing time, Philadelphia was within eight points (or one possession) of its opponents -- either leading or trailing. That was the highest percentage for any team in the league in 2007."
Anyways, here is the link. Thoughts?

Update
They changed the photo to which I referred. Look in the comments and you’ll see it was initially Buckhalter. Damn ESPN is quick…

Check your agenda at the door, Sal.
I’ve seen most of these quotes in other articles, but this one seems to go out of its way to imply controversy.
I’m sure things aren’t as hunky-dory as Dave Spardaro wants us to believe, but I don’t think it’s quite the ticking time-bomb this article implies, either.
Why the Hell Not?

I saw Sal Pal
on ESPN do his report which was actually a readers digest version of his article. He seems to like stirring controversy with the Eagles. I guess it comes from his days as a beat reporter for the Birds.
Spads is an idiot, I use to enjoy him but recently beginning with the end of last season he just seems to be rude to people that call in and it’s almost like he is a puppet and Joe Banner is the puppetmaster.
Gcobb … well nothing more needs be said.

i noticed teh same thing about spads he used to see generally inthused about the team and now it just seems like he is being told what to say and what picture to paint and he is not happy about it at all. mind you i would be cranky too if i had been asked the same question for 3 yrs by every caller

there is a report out there that brings up the old ocho cinco routine.
stating that there is a trade in principle to send lito and a first rounder to cincy for ocho. i took this with a grain of salt til i saw litos interveiw in which he seem like he was saying hmm i am just buying time til i am out of here

it’s never comforting to me when a coach or qb keeps on reiterating that they are a championship caliber team. this usually means that some players don’t believe they are yet and they have to convince some people.
you don’t see belichick/brady or dungy/manning saying to the media that they are a championship caliber team because all members in the organization already know it. similarly, every member of the eagle organization should already know this as well without head coach or qb having to state it to the media.
i’d rather have reid/mcnabb just understate their potential/talent in public right now and then let their actions speak for themselves during the season.
