From whence the Buzz Bissinger Rant came.

The episode (HBO) of Costas Now that contained the aforementioned rant is truly excellent.  It's a full on discussion of the media's influence on the world of sports.  The irony of the episode is that it runs just like a blog - Set Piece and then open commentary, profanity and all.

With regard to the Bissinger segment, I feel maybe a touch bad for Braylon Edwards and even feel something resembling pity for Buzz Bissinger.  Today, though, major newspapers are allowing comments on their stories - verbatim copies of what's published in the paper copy - on their websites.  They are even launching Blogs of their own.

I respect the old school reporter.  The dude that gets familiar with the players and brings the other side - the personal side of the game - to the fan.  It's too bad that the web is killing that profession, but technology is a double edged sword if ever there was one.

If you have the chance, I fully recommend the watching the whole show.
