Patterson gets off

Not exactly a surprise that a pro athlete pretty much gets off scot free after being arrested, but it's good news nonetheless.

Careless driving charge levied against Eagles' Patterson

Eagles starting defensive tackle Mike Patterson was fined $189 for careless driving after being pulled over by police Feb. 16 in Evesham Township, N.J.Patterson dodged the more serious charges, though.

To be fair I don't think most first time offenders, famous or not, get the book thrown at them for simple possession.

I'm sure he'll now be put into the NFL's substance abuse program, but I highly doubt he'll be subject to any further punishment. Patterson just needs to stay out of trouble and focus on building on what was a very good year for him last year.

I remember reading an article on Patterson last year going on and on about how he doesn't do anything to get in trouble and his high character blah blah.

Well, someone in the Eagle front office should slap his head and tell him to wake up. If you are a high profile athlete, why would you smoke dope in a car and cruise around asking for trouble.

If you're gonna smoke doobies then do it in your basement while watching your favorite movies or playing Madden on your 100" LCD screen & sipping on Crystal.
