Desean Jackson, 10th Grader ? I Spit At Your Feet Rich Hofmann !
What does Donovan think? This is different from what he might say in public in the days or weeks following the 2008 NFL draft, when the Eagles again traded out of the first round and used their first pick in the second round on another defensive tackle (Trevor Laws), and then used their next pick on a very fast part-time wide receiver and full-time return specialist who is the size of a 10th-grader (DeSean Jackson), and also traded a fourth-round draft choice for a smallish running back the 1-15 Miami Dolphins didn't want anymore (Lorenzo Booker). Full Article Here
DeSean Jackson, WR
Ht: 5-11 Wt: 178
College: California
(i put 5-11 becuase it is his actual height, his college bio states it as well to back me up even though the eagles slate him at 6'0)
So just for Richard Hofmann I'm going to show you more 10th graders who obviously (according to the very readable tone of disgust in his article) would never have a chance of impact in the NFL just off the top of my head.
Height: 5-11 Weight: 186 Age: 25
Dante Hall | #82 | WR
Height: 5-8 Weight: 187 Age: 29
Wes Welker | #83 | WR
Height: 5-9 Weight: 185 Age: 26
Steve Smith | #89 | WR
Height: 5-9 Weight: 185 Age: 28
Santonio Holmes | #10 | WR
Height: 5-11 Weight: 189 Age: 24
Shaun McDonald | #84 | WR
Height: 5-10 Weight: 183 Age: 26
Like i said, those are just off the top of my head ... and thats wide receiver ... I'm not even hopping into running back or even attempting to jump to the defensive side of the ball soooooooooooooo ... Rich Hofmann go F&%K yourself ...
I love Desean Jackson and followed his career somewhat when i could ... i love him as a pick and almost shit myself when the birds did not take him before trevor laws lol but i almost creamed when we took him ... and i dont know if anyone saw it but i didnt see a happier face on any other player in the draft when receiving the call. Obviously he needs to gain some weight and bulk up a bit, but his talent is raw enough to overlook the weight and acknowledge his return ability... and i cant even imagine how much more he will open up down field throws for Dmac... the Kid is lighting fast !

I gave it a B because we really won't know until he plays
I agree that Hoffman is an idiot. I wanted a big WR but I think this was a smart pick. He will need to add some weight he said he was only at 160-165 and that Andy wants him to be 180-190. I hope he can do it without losing that speed which is his meal ticket.

during the interview jackson said he played at 165 during his college years and was 169 at the combine. he needs to be around 180-185 without losing speed to survive in the nfl, so we’ll see.

i agree
i did not watch or hear the interview and i did not watch the combine … i got my info from here
and the recent info from philadelphiaeagles.com
im assuming he is in the 170 pound area which obviously needs improvement, but the tone of hofmann is what urked me the most as if we wasted our time and selection …

i agree...
He might have been a reach at #19, but I think/hope that he was a steal for where we got him.
There’s only 1 Devin Hester, but if DeSean can be a very good return man and help us at WR (maybe not much this year), he’s going to have a very good career and be really popular here.
After trading away our first two draft picks, my friends and were saying “Oh great, another DT” when we took Laws (I think Laws is a good pick, too, I just knew that it was a “depth” pick since Bunkley and Patterson are pretty entrenched), but we were really happy when we saw they got Jackson.
Why the Hell Not?

We don't know for sure just yet,
but i think it was a good pick-up. I also love your defense of the “short guys” in the NFL :)
A lot of young players in the NFL today come in and need to immediately “bulk up.” We’ll see how it goes with Jackson, but we may have a little speed on special teams next season.
