And so it begins, the biggest day of the NFL offseason the 2008 NFL Draft. I'm at the Eagles draft party at the Linc where I'll be taking lots of pictures and video that I will be sharing when I get back.
Until then, use this as your open thread to discuss all picks/trades/anything. Later on I'll have full scouting reports and analysis on whoever the Eagles bring in.

I love it. Andy and Jeff at their best. 2 and a 4 now and two number ones next year. plus all the wideouts are not off the board. And the safetys are still there…this years draft will be great.

No doubt we got GREAT value for the pick. We’ve got the 43 and 49 pick in the 2nd round now apparently. Who do we pick?

This seemed like a year that they needed fewer, better picks. We’ll see how it shakes out. Maybe something’s wrong with Otah. Both Detroit and Houston passed could had OT as a position of need and passed on him, too.

pretty sweet draft this year … a lot better than last year. It’s possible the birds are stock piling picks to sweeten a deal for one of the recievers … would have to be Roy or Anquan Cincy won’t trade chad until after June 1st
Sam Baker is good, I think the Steelers were gonna get him if not. I actually was hoping he would drop to us.

A little note to the ESPN analysts
All that stuff about Dallas that you just mentioned doesnt mean a damn thing if you cant win in the playoffs, which they clearly can’t

Man, all the best RBs are of the board…Things are looking excellent for the eagles though, no WR or S of the board yet
Nobody wants these wideouts. Chris Johnson is good, but if I were Vince Young I’d be pissed. The cowgirls might get a WR here, too. I hope they take Malcolm Kelly.

Flacco over Brohm
thats what gets me. Why would the ravens grab flacco when there still was brohm…werent most of the experts saying brohm was the best in the draft. man i feel bad for him
Jackson from Cal would give the eagles a KR (sorry Mahe) and a good WR. I personally would like to see Limas Sweed. Good hands and Plax size
I don’t think either one is a future Pro Bowler. I can’t wait to look back at this in 5 years and feel dumb…

I think that the Seahawks didnt need that pick now that all the best RBs are off the board. Whatever the Seahawks got from the Cowboys was a bonus, but mostly what they need now is time to think their next step. Losing all the best RBs came as a surprise to them

I just looked up Booker and his Wikipedia entry already notes that he was traded to the Eagles. There are people out there even more fanatical than us…
Does that mark the end of Buckhalter? I like Booker by the way. Could be a good 2nd option.

Kenny Phillips is overrated
because he is from Miami. He wasn’t that great … has potential to be but never realized it, no reason to think he will now.
You might be right about that. I’m just hoping Dan Connor doesn’t go to the Giants. I like him way too much even though I watched him dismember our football team when I was in high school.

Buffalo, Miami, Washington and Atlanta could all take WRs. Maybe the Jets too. I think we’re gonna sit on Sweed or Hardy.

What are everybody’s thoughts on Malcolm Kelly vs. Sweed vs. Hardy vs. Jackson?
Personally I don’t think Jackson is who we want and Malcolm Kelly scares me a little. Hardy’s character issues make me nervous and Sweed’s durability scares me. I don’t know what I want.

and nothing has happened but in time to see the pick. I’m secretly glad Hardy is going for some reason I did not like him. guess it’s not a secret anymore.

never really like Spadaro he was a prick to people that called in during the Asante signing and Clemons signing. I think the Eagles pay him to give crazy false information.
ummmm, i am now starting to beleive that there is something BIG in the works for after the draft. There must be…right? i mean Big Red is clearly sitting in the back room with that little “i know something you don’t know” smirk on his face. Because he LOVES torturing the fans and media with slight of hand.
Either that or nothing happens and he thinks sweed lasts to our next pick and then scarfs down a bucket of KFC is sadness when sweed gets picked

The Eagles were looking to move entirely out of the 2008 draft, because Andy Reid was hungry and wanted to go home. Unfortunately, the other teams ran out of 2009 picks to trade them.

the other teams are getting better (especially in the nfc east) and we are staying the same and hoping we’ll compete

we swapped 2nd picks Carilina’s 43 for Minnesota’s 47
We Got Minnesota’s 4th 117
we gave Minnesota our 5th 152
Well today is my Birthday
and I’d like to thank the Eagles for making it a memorable one … I’m not upset at the picks but sort of frustrated because I expected more, and I don’t think Jackson is the answer … hopefully I’m as wrong about that as I was about this draft. Take care guys.
