Eagles On the Clock

ESPN has being putting one team a day "on the clock" on sportscenter. They talk a bit about the team's offseason and look to what they might do in the draft.

Today was the Eagles' turn.

McNabb trade talk...
Will it ever stop?

The only one who made any sense is Mel Kiper!

Mort....
He's made an art of making up rumors without flat out lying.

He'll say stuff like he did today. He doesn't report anything or talk about any rumors, he just says the Eagles will listen if someone calls about McNabb. Obviously they would listen, as any team would for any player... but it certainly doesn't mean what he infers.

He did the exact same thing about Chad Johnson midway through the season. He actually apologized to the Bengals website.

What did Banner say?
Did he say he'd trade McNabb for three first round picks or he'd consider trading McNabb for three first rounders? Regardless, I know it'd take at least 2 and a player and no one's going to offer that.

I can't decide
who wants to move McNabb more, ESPN or PFT. Really, what could Baltimore offer? Except for maybe Chris Williams or one of the top 3 CBs, there is nothing the Eagles would want at #8 and in a draft that's deep at OT and CB there is no reason to trade up and pay the extra money. Ed Reed is getting old and Todd Heap can't stay healthy. Suggs makes some sense as do Ngata and Figures, but the Eagles would probably demand at least two of them PLUS the #8pick. It's much more likely that McNabb will renotiate his contract in a few years or get cut than that he'll be traded any time soon.

Ah yes..
Mortensen repeating the myth that the Eagles made the Super Bowl because of TO.

Hey Chris, how many catches did TO have in the NFC Championship?

I really hate these guys sometimes.

Nothing new
This is just the same recycled BS.  I get tired of listening to Mortensen talk without saying anything.  At least Mel Keper pointed out the direction the Eagles should take in the draft.

Whatever
I agree, thank god for Mel Kiper.  He makes the good point that the eagles clearly know what they're doing by getting their #1 and #2 needs in Samuel and Clemons.  Yes mortensen, if the eagles are offered 6 first round picks and guaranteed berth in the superbowl they might consider trading McNabb...

What
What would those 3 teams offer the Eagles that would make them give up McNabb.  None of those teams really have any players worth sending to the Eagles to fill the Birds needs and they don't have the draft picks in this draft to make it work.  I don't see the Eagles taking future draft picks when they are obviously building for a run now.

Ravens - No threatening wideouts (Mason(34) or maybe Clayton) Reed is getting old and they have no other really great Defensive players.

Vikings - I would take Peterson off there hands but short of that again no great wideouts.  They do have some interesting options on the defensive end but that is how they won most of there games last year (Plus some help from AP)

Bears - No offensive weapons to offer, they lost both there 2 wideouts in FA so Devin Hester? and maybe one of there aging defensive players like Urlacher/Briggs/Archuleta

credibility
Going to go out on a limb here and say it would probably help your credibility if you knew the difference between there, they're, and their.

okay
I am probably one of the first to point out grammar mistakes. There, they're and their happens to be on of the most popular and I apologize if it confused you.  As far as credibility I think my previous comments, proven knowledge of the stats, team, and game out weigh my speed typing mistakes.  I will do my best to proof read future posts, but I have seen worse slaughtering of the english language on these boards from guys I view as credible sources.

sorry
before I get further ostracized "happens to be on" should read "happens to be one".
