NFL rumor mill on fire

There's tons and tons of rumors flying out of the final days of the combine and I'm going to attempt to sort out those that have some impact on the Eagles.
  • It appears that the Saints are leading the race for CB Asante Samuel and could be offering him $11-12 million a year!
  • There's some idle rumors that Randy Moss and the Pats aren't close to a deal and that the Cowboys could swoop in with a giant offer to bring Moss to Dallas. That's a fairly scary proposition... Both for opposing teams and the Cowboys locker room, with TO in the final year of his deal.
  • According the Boston Globe, if the Eagles were to get Asante Samuel, the Patriots would be interested in a trade for Lito Sheppard.
  • There's still some talk that the Giants will offer at the least their first round pick and maybe another late pick for Falcon's CB DeAngelo Hall. I've read that if they traded for Hall and lost Gibril Wilson, it could mean that one of their corners(Webster or Ross maybe McQuarters) could move to safety.

If dallas
gets moss, they'd be utterly unstoppable in the passing game... but there is just no was those two assholes can co-exist in the same locker room. They'd be fuming before camp started about who was #1 on the depth chart
Its a new season!

Yeah
And if moss got a giant new contract, you know TO would want the same.

It would certainly make for some drama!

Love It
I really love the logic that says "We can't afford to keep our Pro-Bowl Left Tackle Flozell Adams, but let's go buy the most expensive wide receiver on the market".

Yup, that should work out just fine.

and...
Because, you know, the NFC East is completely lacking of good passing rushing DE's.

Go get em, Jerry.

Offseason Moves
I can't wait to see what happens in free agency.  I think Antwan Odom and Gibril Wilson combined would be better choice than just Asante Samuel if you had to choose between the two options.  If the Eagles could do that and get Stallworth or Berrian, I would say they  made solid, reasonable choices in the offseason. (For all those whining the Eagles didn't get Fitzgerald or Chad Johnson - it's just unrealistic - get over it.)

Odom
CBS sports actually has him ranked as the #2 overall free agent this offseason. That surprised me a bit.

Yikes
I looked that up and was surprised by it too. But they do make good points that he is young and had a very good season; I could see the Eagles making a push for him. He'd look real nice opposite Trent Cole...

What'll they do?
Sorry Jason... All the saftey talk is interesting, but I think it's a smokescreen... and we know the Eagles brass'll do that!  On defense, the Eagles INVEST in CB's & DE's (OK, an occasional DT). Why not break out the great, green smoke machine and drive the cost up for the Giants to resign Wilson?  What the Birds need are 3 quality cb's and Assante Samuel answers that need.   Plus, with Samuel, they can swing Sheldon Brown between 3rd cb and Starting Saftey as the 9th DB.

I disagree the Birds have no saftey depth.  With JR Reed and Considine as your 4th & 5th safties (behind Dawk, Quentin and Brown), there'd be plenty of depth there (Considine has been out of position as a SS, he is a natural Free Saftey, while Reed has the pop to play in the box).  And you'd be set at CB with Lito, Samuel and Sheldon, along with Joselio Hanson and a 2nd or 3rd round pick (yes, another cb!) to provide fine cb depth.

In fact, with Samuel and a plan to draft a cb, the Eagles would even have the depth to trade Lito in a package for Larry Fitz (Lito, Takeo and G-Lew or Baskett)...I see Samuel as the key to everything... taking a DE in rnd #1, a CB in rnd #2 (yes, another cb!) and, going after 1 of the following guys, in this order- Larry Fitz, Roy Williams, Javon Walker, Donte Stallworth, Ocho Cinco.  Forget Berrian.  We got a better version of him already in Kevin Curtis.

Well..
Who really knows what is going to happen. I don't, I know from experience that the Eagles will take care of DL,OL,DB first. I got that. I actually feel that too. I judt hope that someone thinks to them selves that we need a impact offensive player....

Please all I care is that someone else can come over here and help this offense. It would be nice if it happened. But, I will tell you that I will be really pissed if we get next to nothing next week. I will really have to start rethink about the way's I spend my time on Sunday's in the fall. Because I simply cannot bear to watch anymore westcoast passing attacks without enough playmakers. It is really hard to watch, for me at least.
