NFL rumor mill on fire
![]() |
- It appears that the Saints are leading the race for CB Asante Samuel and could be offering him $11-12 million a year!
- There's some idle rumors that Randy Moss and the Pats aren't close to a deal and that the Cowboys could swoop in with a giant offer to bring Moss to Dallas. That's a fairly scary proposition... Both for opposing teams and the Cowboys locker room, with TO in the final year of his deal.
- According the Boston Globe, if the Eagles were to get Asante Samuel, the Patriots would be interested in a trade for Lito Sheppard.
- There's still some talk that the Giants will offer at the least their first round pick and maybe another late pick for Falcon's CB DeAngelo Hall. I've read that if they traded for Hall and lost Gibril Wilson, it could mean that one of their corners(Webster or Ross maybe McQuarters) could move to safety.

What'll they do?
I disagree the Birds have no saftey depth. With JR Reed and Considine as your 4th & 5th safties (behind Dawk, Quentin and Brown), there'd be plenty of depth there (Considine has been out of position as a SS, he is a natural Free Saftey, while Reed has the pop to play in the box). And you'd be set at CB with Lito, Samuel and Sheldon, along with Joselio Hanson and a 2nd or 3rd round pick (yes, another cb!) to provide fine cb depth.
In fact, with Samuel and a plan to draft a cb, the Eagles would even have the depth to trade Lito in a package for Larry Fitz (Lito, Takeo and G-Lew or Baskett)...I see Samuel as the key to everything... taking a DE in rnd #1, a CB in rnd #2 (yes, another cb!) and, going after 1 of the following guys, in this order- Larry Fitz, Roy Williams, Javon Walker, Donte Stallworth, Ocho Cinco. Forget Berrian. We got a better version of him already in Kevin Curtis.

Well..
Please all I care is that someone else can come over here and help this offense. It would be nice if it happened. But, I will tell you that I will be really pissed if we get next to nothing next week. I will really have to start rethink about the way's I spend my time on Sunday's in the fall. Because I simply cannot bear to watch anymore westcoast passing attacks without enough playmakers. It is really hard to watch, for me at least.
