The Linc is Veggie Friendly

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals(PETA) released their list of the Top Five Vegetarian Friendly NFL Stadiums this week and guess who came in at #3?

3. Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia Eagles) Philly might have taken home top prize for having the number one vegetarian-friendly baseball stadium this year, but on the football side of things, the city ranks third with hungry helpings of the classics: veggie dogs and veggie burgers.

I'm sure Shawn Andrews will be proud.

1. I can’t believe I clicked on the link to the PETA press release.
2. I’m startled that Green Bay made the top 5. Didn’t see that coming.

mmm, broccoli

Look, our star RB is nowhere near 100%, our backup RB is out, and our 3rd string RB goes down when defenders blow in his general direction.

Honestly I think they’re both mediocre.

Jim’s on South does make a better steak.

Geno’s was good, and I never had Pat’s or Jim’s. I liked Dallesandro’s (in roxborough I think) better than Geno’s, but I hear they’re under new management. My favorite lesser-known place in Philly was the Skyline at like 20th and Market (which has since closed). Every Friday lunch used to be cheese steaks and beer.

Ricardo’s in Deptford, NJ was my favorite place when I lived there.

I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.

no one does the cheese wiz around here

by NickPampani on Dec 3, 2008 5:42 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Not being a philly native myself, I’d rather avoid the wiz.

“American without” (American cheese no onions) was I think how I was told to order at Geno’s (or they would yell at me).

Pats, Big Time

Although I like Jim’s on South Street too.
Maybe this is why the Eagles have gotten worse these past two years: we need to appeal to the carnivores more.

i am not an philly native

however i do know that both Pats and Ginos use the same steak from the same sapplyer

I like Dalessadros or Tony lukes
Brian S…Dalessandros is under new managment but its just as good if not better—-i feel like it’s fresher now

I have to second Tony Lukes. Their roast pork and provolone sammich is good eats.

I went to college at Delaware

and we used to make trips up to Philly at least one a month for some cheesesteaks, Pat’s was usually our choice, though Jim’s on South St. was awesome too. There’s also a really good place on Market Street right across the street from Lucy’s Hat Shop, though I’ve been drunk every time I’ve been there, so it might not actually be that good.

I’m not gonna lie, as a New Yorker and resident Philly hater, I’m a little disappointed to see that your stadiums are ranking high on the vegetarian rankings…my favorite thing about Philly was that the city seemed to say “F you” to the health food craze. Just say no to vegetables, unless they’re on your steak wit’

Ernie's

on Cottman Ave across from NE High School. Pat’s and Geno’s are a must for tourists, but if you want someone to enjoy a real cheesesteak – cheese melted into the meat and good bread (its all about the bread), then go to Ernie’s. I conducted an extremely (un)scientific experiment one weekend with some friends and went to: Pat’s, Geno’s, Tony Luke’s, and Ernie’s. And all five (disgustingly gross) subjects said that we rated Ernie’s as number one.

I have nothing to do with Ernie’s and dont have anything to gain, but I strongly encourage you all to try it for good eats. You’ll be hooked.

Voltacos

In Ocean City, NJ. (I have to clarify and say NJ since i live in Maryland and have an Ocean City MD as well.) They make a GREAT cheesesteak. I cant compare to anything but Geno’s and Pats, but i definitely rate it above both…
Subway is up there too, in one of those not at all kind of ways.

They serve fruit and vegetables at the Linc?

Seriously? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fruit or vegetable for sale down there. Not that I looked, mind you. Do french fries count as a vegetable?

For hoagies, I recommend A Cut Above on West Chester Pike in Newtown Square.

Off Topic

I went to New Orleans for the Arena Bowl this year and there is a guy from Philly who opened a Cheesesteak place on Bourbon Street. It was pretty damn good and I’m sure he cleaned house that week because New Orleans was over run with Philly natives.
