Taking the pulse
It's Eagles/Dallas this Sunday. No matter what happens in the 1pm games this game will have playoff implications, although maybe not for the Eagles. The Eagles will have what is basically a play in game if the following happens.
Tampa loses
and
The Bears or Vikings lose (one of these teams will win the NFC North)
No matter what happens in those games, if Dallas wins they're in. So at the very least the Eagles should be motivated to keep the rivals Cowboys out of the postseason.
But where are the fans? This could very well be the last game of the season for us. It could be last game for players like Brian Dawkins, Jon Runyan, Tra Thomas, and even Donovan McNabb. There's always a chance this could be the last game Andy Reid is on the sidelines.
Despite the fact that for those reasons the game could be as momentous as any years... I'm not feeling the same excitement for an Eagles/Cowboys matchup as usual. Last week's dissapointment, the unlikely playoff chances, the Christmas holiday being smack dab in the middle of the week... all have conspired to suck some of the anticipation out of the weekend.
For me personally, all the holiday traveling and what not hasn't given me much of a chance to think about football. That said, it's over now and it's just about football time.
What is your level of excitement for this weekend?

I’m still excited about the Eagles/Cowboys game, but I would have been brimming with anticipation if the Eagles won last week, and this game determined which team would make it to the playoffs. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Maybe, if the Bucs lose, then i will be more excited.

i would have to agree
all the in between things including last weeks lost have really unmotivated me as well … im not even going to the bar today to watch the game … im just hoping its on local nc tv … i havnt even checked yet … what will really motivate me is if all our 1 o clock games go according to plans
If football had a church, Brian Dawkins would be my preacher !

I must admit
last week just sucked the life out of me. I let my guard down and was really, really excited last week, and the performance by the O just ripped my heart out.
My son and I will still be watching and yelling as we always do, but my level of excitement at this point is very low.
As NorthPhillyKid said though, if 4pm rolls around and the 1 o’clocks went in our favor, I am sure I will get quite excited.

Same
The Eagles have sucked the enthusiasm out of me this year. I can’t stand the ups followed by the depths of despair.
I only support the Eagles and buy Eagles gear and talk Eagles to my sons and friends and read Eagles blogs daily an listen to football podcasts only to get Eagles news and I own ‘Dallas Suck’ cozis … but if I miss Sunday’s game I don’t even care.
I am more interested in what happens beginning Monday when decisions will start being made about who is staying and who is leaving.
I am tired of hearing everyone say how good we are — and then lose to teams we should beat. Face it, we are an average, 8-8 team.
My stomach will be in knots during the game and I will definitely try to be available to watch … but if I miss the game, I don’t even care. Not this year.

Excited but...
If all they get out of this game is beating dallas the season was a failure…again. That makes 3 out the last 4 seasons the eagles havent played in the post season.

I'm excited!
I hate dallas and I hate TO… knocking them out is only a concellation prize if we dont get in, but still…

i gotta agree…i gotta blame Dave Spadero b/c he got me sooo pumped b4 the season from his endorsements of Lorenzo Booker to just him just making the Eagles seen so unstopable…..i was all braggin “ooo yea Eagles mannn goin all the way” and evry let down kills me on the inside…..
To me the Eagles are like that girlfriend that pisses u off, then u hate her, but the next morning you wake up and remember that thing u love so much about her

Never trust Spuds
Otherwise you’d have expected 5 Super Bowl wins by now.

i’m always pumped for eagles dallas, but i, like everyone else, would be way more pumped if we are still alive when the game starts.

Naturally...
the Eagles are slight favorites at home.
But yeah, that TB/Oakland spread (13) is looking mighty awful right now.
And Minn (6.5 favorites) might get a walkover game with the Giants already having homefield.
Houston/Chicago – no one knows which houston team will show up.
