If I had a nickel for every e-mail I've gotten accusing myself and the rest of the local sports literati of being "afraid" to ask Reid tough questions at his news conferences, I'd have enough money to bail out GM.
The problem is, their idea of a tough question is, "Hey, fatso. Your playcalling stinks. When are you going to do us a favor and die?"
Truth is, Reid gets asked the tough questions every week. He just chooses not to answer them, which is certainly his right, just as it is our right to draw our own conclusions when he doesn't answer them. He was asked 10 different ways on Monday to explain why just five of the Eagles' 43 second-half plays against the Redskins were run plays. His most expansive answer: "We probably could've run it a couple more times."

I dont know whch reporter asked it, but the best question to Reid after the washington game was “have you noticed we ask you the same questions each week”.
Horseshit
Bowen’s suggestion that the fan base’s interpretation of a tough question is asking Andy when he will die is ridiculous. I’m not sure who wants him to ask those types of mean-spirited questions…but I’ve listened to a lot of press conferences, and what I never hear is anyone pushing Andy to give answers. Not once have I ever heard anyone say to Andy: “You’re not answering the question.” Correct me if I’m wrong. No one calls him out on his non-answers, at least not in any forceful way. I’ve never seen a journalist lose their temper and go after him. That doesn’t mean you need a personal attack, but they never call him out on his stupid press conferences and that’s what sucks.
Why?
Andy for 10 years winning or losing doesn’t reveal anything and he doesnt have to. All he has to do is answer the questions how he wants, and he does.
What do you want him to say? What do you want the reporters to say?
If the reporters call him out do you think that’s going to change anything? He’s not going to reveal anything, us fans have to get over it.
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
I agree with that, Im really not bothered by andy’s bland press conferences. we dont need our coach revealing things to future opponents, nor do we need a coach who screams rants and raves at his press conferences (singletary, Herm Edwards, etc.) as that just creates a distraction. Bill Belicheck is the best coach in the NFL and his press conferences are just as boring as reids.
Well...
…I never said I wanted him to reveal things to our opponents. We already have one of the most predictable offenses in the league. What more is there to reveal?
What do I want him to say? Um…anything. If you can’t answer the question of why you, for example, threw 50 times against one of the worst run defenses in the NFL (Bengals) then that’s a problem. His own players can’t understand his thinking. Isn’t that a bad indication?
What do I want reporters to ask? I just want them to press him. They never seem to do even that much.
Like I said
Would news reporters hack it as coaches or coordinators in the NFL? No, so why would Andy seriously sit down and answer their “pressing” questions.
Remember the Bengals game? Who was out there turning the ball over 4 times? McNabb. We could’ve ran it more, but McNabb stunk it up hardcore.
Guys I understand we’re losing but at least keep a good grasp of things. No one seemed to care about Andy’s boring press conferences when we were winning.
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
I did.
I want less bore in those conferences. Maybe he could wear a Santa Costume. He’s got the girth.
mcnabb stunk it up harcore
so we threw it 50 times? i don’t understand your logic. mcnabb is our QB, not rb. if he is sucking, then running it would make more sense…
