Abiamiri, Bradley injured
At his day after press conference Andy Reid revealed that Victor Abiamiri had a mild lisfranc sprain and was likely to miss this Sunday's game with th Cowboys. The second year DE has been steadily improving since he started to get significant playing time around midseason. As Ray Parillo points out, VA had one of the better games of his career.
In Sunday's 10-3 loss to Washington, he forced a fumble by quarterback Jason Campbell that resulted in a 5-yard loss on the Redskins' first possession. He also stopped running back Clinton Portis for no gain on third and 1, forcing the Redskins to punt on their second possession. In addition, Abiamiri had a sack.
Stewart Bradley suffered a broken rib against the Redskins, but should be able to play. Reid also seemed to suggest that Hank Baskett and Kevin Curtis will also return on Sunday.

Shame Abiamiri was playing well, maybe he is playing it safe to not risk serious injury, but don’t you think he would be able to play the last game of the season. I mean at least give it a try with a mild foot sprain? granted I don’t know the details.
It will be interesting to see how effective Bradley is getting off blocks with a broken rib.

A lisfranc injury, even a mild one, would be really difficult to play on. PLus he’d really be at risk of worse injury. Westbrook lost a season to a lisfranc fracture.

ah I think I remember that 2005 right?
“mild” and “sprain” get me. I think given the way things have played out players are more likely to sit due to injuries.

As well as Abiamiri has played...
…and I think he’s really looked good the past few weeks, both as a DE and DT, I still think the D-Line is a concern. It seems like they can’t get consistent pressure on the QB without blitzing. When they rush four, you rarely see anything good happen except a long completion…even by the Ken Dorseys of the world. Bunkley and Patterson combined have 2.5 sacks. They are great against the run up the middle, but their sack numbers are down from last year. And when teams can pick up our blitz (i.e. the Redskins game), then we’re in some trouble. I would like to see someone really consistent opposite Cole…do you guys think that guy is Abiamiri? And do we want to risk it next year? Or do we look to the D-Line in free agency/draft?

I would say that the Eagles were in the top 5 in sacks, almost all from the Dline.
At one point in the season, we had more sacks that NY. Can some check to see where we stand on sacks? I don’t know where to look for that.

Well
1. Dallas – 58 Sacks
2. Pittsburgh – 48 sacks
3. Philadelphia – 44 sacks
We do get a lot of sacks, but we blitz a lot. I just don’t know if we get enough pressure from the front four.

I disagree. We do a pretty good job of that

i disagree
it seems the QB has a lot of time in general when we don’t send extra men.

I think I need a break from this site
because when we start losing Eagles fans just get fucking retarded
“And when teams can pick up our blitz (i.e. the Redskins game), then we’re in some trouble”
Is that why they only scored 10 whole points and 7 coming from a McNabb fumble deep in our own territory?
Our pass rush is fine. We’ve barely been run on save 2-3 games this year, we’ve ranked #6 in total points and #3 in yards and sacks.
Guys we lose when the offense falls flat on their face whether it be mcnabb turning the ball over like he’s Favre or when we decide to miss blocks and drop passes.

shut up asshole
disagreeing is not the same as being “fucking retarted”. the question was not how many sacks we have, or how many yards the other team has rushing. it was whether or not we get pressure without blitzing. during the redskins game i repeatedly said, wow, he has quite a bit of time to throw. i didn’t say it was the defenses fault we lost (although forcing no turnovers does suck…especially when the guy we paid tons of money to make turnovers dropped a game changing INT). i said that i don’t think we get a lot of pressure without sending extra men.
as an aside, who the fuck do you think you are? you’re not some brilliant football mastermind. why do you go around calling people retards when they disagree? if you called everyone a retard who you disagreed with, you’d be calling yourself retarded. why, do you ask?

now all you talk about is how people are retarted for thinking reid should go, retarted for thinking mcnabb should go, retarted for thinking the defense is at least partially responsible for the loss, retarted for everything. do i agree with all of this? no, i don’t. but i’m not an immature asshole like you who is going to go around calling them retarted for it. i use grown up words. if you do take a break from this site, i don’t know how many people would miss you.
the eagles have 44 sacks on the season. 13.5 are from those other than the front four …about 1/3. also, 29 of our sacks of came in five games. This is 66% of our sacks in 33% of the games played. however, in five games played, they registered only 1 or zero sacks. So, i’m sorry for thinking that getting zero or one sack in 1/3 of the games played isn’t fine.

JJ has said that Omar would be in if any of the lb’s went down.
He did well last year in the middle and he’s going to have one hell of a chip on his shoulder after being on the bench for the last few weeks.
I look forward to seeing him break Choice in half.
