by ajay on Dec 21, 2008 6:12 PM EST reply actions

Andy Reid

I can’t quite understand how Andy Reid, in such a hyped, an important game to this season can call such conservative plays.
In our last 3 wins vs the browns, cardinals, and g-men, downfield passing was present, and Donovan McNabb, our franchise player controlled the game.
Why, Why, Why, does Andy Reid seem to get “scared” in these situations and decide to do dump-offs, delayed handoffs, and slowly-developing running plays to an obvious undersized Westbrook and Buckhalter
Seriously Andy, grow a pair and start coming at teams in the big spotlight. You showed the country you can get to it, but now its time to go after teams with your offensive plays

that's because

our runs were too predictable. run pass run pass run pass. they know when we’re going to run. its that simple. run buckhalter more. he’s a one cut, straight up the field runner. sometimes, when one RB isn’t getting it done, you try to change gears to see if another RB sees the running lanes better. what i find difficult to understand

is why westbrook is averaging nearly 4 yards per carry and we are having trouble moving the chains….guys this is common sense. If you run it 3 straight times u get 12 yards, keep moving the damn chains. Even if we’re unhappy with Westbrook running, why has Buckhalter who is our downhill runner only carried the ball once? Problem is when Reid gets flustered he goes back to what he knows best, which is chucking the ball down the field and hoping for the best.

this is not rocket science...

if you love to pass the ball, get someone that can catch it. the fact that our best WR playmaker is a rookie is a slap on Andy Reid’s face, a guy widely known to be the most pass oriented coach in the history of the NFL. Maybe if he had actually done his homework in the offseason we would have a WR that can catch his 15 straight passes.

another one?

What should I do with my Sunday’s when I know when to call time outs better than our multimillion dollar coach? I cannot fucking stand it any longer. Did you know that Andy Ried is the one that pick the players that are not good enough? Did you also know that he is the one the coaches them? Did you know that he actually designs the game plans? He cannot or will not step up his clock management skills. It is very clear at this point.

I guess I am a stupid fan because I will not stand for this bullshit anymore.

E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!

by Joe_D on Dec 21, 2008 7:38 PM EST up reply actions

let's set this straight once and for all...

The players that dropped passes today were all picked by…..Andy Reid! His dumbass stuck with LJ smith when we all thought he should have been let go, same goes for Reggie Brown. Reid is the dumbass that had Pinkston and Thrash as starting WR for years…he’s the same idiot that refused year after year to get a big name WR that could come through consistently in the clutch.

The person that wasted the timeouts so we didn’t have any when we needed them was…Andy Reid!

Albert Eistein once said “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. When your passing game isn’t working, and all your receivers are dropping balls, passing 15, 20 straight times is not the answer. And btw, running out of the shotgun is not really running it either. That’s pussy football. Andy Reid is by all intents and purposes… insane!

by Eagles need to run on Dec 21, 2008 7:38 PM EST up reply actions

LOL. Blaming Reid for A NFL PLAYER dropping a pass is the most ridiculous thing. Eventually a player needs to you know…play.

by Nah_Roots on Dec 21, 2008 7:40 PM EST up reply actions

well...

maybe the cardinals should replace Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald with average NFL WRs. then we’ll see if Kurt Warner remains the same caliber QB he’s been all year.

by Eagles need to run on Dec 21, 2008 7:41 PM EST up reply actions

after all

any random NFL WR should be able to make the catch, right? There’s a reason you need playmakers, folks that come through in the clutch. As a head coach, going into the season the question you need to answer is…“Can I trust this group of guys to come through in the clutch?” If your answer to that question isn’t a resounding yes…than you’ve screwed up somewhere.

by Eagles need to run on Dec 21, 2008 7:43 PM EST up reply actions

There’s a difference between executing a simple throw and catch and being an explosive player. I understand we don’t have the HUGE WR that we all thing will suddenly make the team better, but c’mon…they def. should have made some catches today that we all know they are capable of making.

by Nah_Roots on Dec 21, 2008 7:45 PM EST up reply actions

dude

these are clutch times though…i think that’s the point you’re missing. last 2 games of the season playing for the right to play in the playoffs? that’s when the playmakers come through. The regular guys make catches at all the other times, your playmakers come through in the clutch.

by Eagles need to run on Dec 21, 2008 7:47 PM EST up reply actions

Well, if you want to talk about “clutch”. The game I saw showed the receivers making plays on the very last drive as opposed every other drive that was given to them by the D. They couldn’t make any catches when there was no time variable to worry about. It was just a straight-up bad showing.

by Nah_Roots on Dec 21, 2008 7:51 PM EST up reply actions

Just last week everybody was fine with our receivers and they should be. However, they gave McNabb no help today. Nobody could get open all game.

by Nah_Roots on Dec 21, 2008 7:47 PM EST up reply actions

they couldn’t get open because washington knew the pass was coming.

When you have 10 minutes left in the game and you’re only down by a TD, you CAN afford to run the ball to keep the defenses from pulling this crap.

and yes, they dropped too many passes this game, but this probably would not have made a difference if they drop a 3 yard pass versus taking a 3 yard run.

Extra bonus is that on a run play with so much time left in a quarter, Westbrook MIGHT be able to break off for a big run. Run a screen to westbrook or something, but put the ball in his hands.

by JGCarraway on Dec 21, 2008 7:53 PM EST up reply actions

Yep. West brook was def. healthy enough to take the load.

inability to pick out a kick return man last year
inability to get a real fullback
inability to get a WR coach

by JGCarraway on Dec 21, 2008 7:42 PM EST up reply actions

Demps is fine. I have faith in eckel although this is the one knock I’ll put on reid. Stop acting like the receivers have been playing like this all season.

by Nah_Roots on Dec 21, 2008 7:44 PM EST up reply actions

Yep. Keep trying to convince yourself that. Jackson never dropped that many catch able passes in a game.

by Nah_Roots on Dec 21, 2008 7:48 PM EST up reply actions

dude....you keep missing the point.

The job of the head coach is to prepare the team and put them in the best position to win. Let me run the list of inexcusable Reid mistakes here…
1)consistently terrible clock management and inappropriate use of timeouts spanning over several years

2) last year he thought special teams was so unimportant he experimented with Jeremy Bloom the skiier the entire offseason, then put together a patchwork group of return guys right before the season began. We lost 2 games because of that that would have made a huge difference

3)this year he decided the running game wasn’t that important, so let Thomas Tapeh go and decided to experiment with a DT, Klecko, at FB. I mean, wtf?

4) In the game against Cincy, he felt the run game was so unimportant, that with Westbrook hobbled he decided to deactivate a RB and keep an extra WR (so we went into the game with 6 healthy WR and 1 healty RB. Buckhalter got injured and we couldn’t run the ball.

5) year after year he refuses to delegate duties (how about the head coach just coach the damn team for a change..let the GM pick players, let the OC call plays. pick one thing and do it well you fucking fat ass!)

I could go on..but this is enough

by Eagles need to run on Dec 21, 2008 7:54 PM EST up reply actions

I love how you think the head coach thinks that positions and games are "unimportant’. How do you expect anybody to take what you say seriously?

by Nah_Roots on Dec 21, 2008 7:56 PM EST up reply actions

You’re not even arguing facts anymore.

by JGCarraway on Dec 21, 2008 7:57 PM EST up reply actions

well....

either he felt those positions were unimportant, or he realized they were, but still went ahead to make those decisions anyway. If that’s what you’re saying, then maybe Reid is even more of an idiot than I thought he was.

by Eagles need to run on Dec 21, 2008 7:59 PM EST up reply actions

not talking about demps.
talking about jeremy bloom.

by JGCarraway on Dec 21, 2008 7:46 PM EST up reply actions

HAHA. Yeah, lets go back to past seasons while we’re at that. That certainly makes sense in 2008.

by Nah_Roots on Dec 21, 2008 7:48 PM EST up reply actions

Yes it does if we’re arguing about reid’s inability to coach and put together a team.

Why would you give bloom every single rep in returns and then cut him and put in someone who hasn’t?
How many games did that cost the Eagles last year before they brought back Mahe?

Likewise, what did not having a fullback do early this year on all those 3rd and 1’s?

by JGCarraway on Dec 21, 2008 7:50 PM EST up reply actions

Reid clearly fixed the return problem. And was able to patch up the full back position for the most part DURING this season. I also enjoy how you’re talking about past games and seasons to try and find a parallel to this game.

by Nah_Roots on Dec 21, 2008 7:52 PM EST up reply actions

Ask yourself how many games did they lose as a result? Would this game have even mattered if they had beat Chicago?

by JGCarraway on Dec 21, 2008 7:54 PM EST up reply actions

Uhhh…yeah, most likely.

by Nah_Roots on Dec 21, 2008 7:55 PM EST up reply actions

by JGCarraway on Dec 21, 2008 7:27 PM EST reply actions

I don't konw what to think of this game and the season?

There were drops. Injuries to WRs hurt the team. The playcalling was baffling – and not just because of all the passes, but the kinds of passes called. The Eagles could finish 9-6-1 with wins over playoff teams Giants, Steelers, Cardinals and Falcons. But they also lost five games by a touchdown or less, and tied the Bengals. I think its safe to say the Eagles have a good to great defense, and for the most part is young and getting better. The offense, though, hasn’t been good since the Super Bowl year – and that’s Reid’s forte. I’d like to see the Eagles go in a new direction at head coach. I’m tired of the West Coast offense and having a coach that makes so many poor game-time decisions. And on the last play of the game – that’s all on Reggie Brown. He has to run a pattern in the end zone.

by phillynyc on Dec 21, 2008 7:35 PM EST reply actions

Players should play, coaches should coach

Reggie Brown doesn’t play hard. He is a baby. He is a slap in the face to every Eagles fan.

Despite this Andy Ried cannot even man up and dump him. We just have to deal with him not running good routes and playing lackadasical all year.

Yeah that’s a really good coach.

What if I was at the horse track and kept betting on all kinds of horses and always lost? Isn’t my fault that I can’t pick the right one to win?

Or is it there fault?

by topcat6 on Dec 21, 2008 7:52 PM EST reply actions

In Reid’s defense, he benched Reggie and wouldn’t have played him today if Curtis and Baskett weren’t out.

I read this blog everyweek to hear what Andrew B, Jason and a handful of others are feeling about this so called team. You on the other hand are a moron.

And I quote, " I need to do a better position to perennially come up short of expections."

You are making fun of Reid.

Well you should be making fun of him, Reid is a SLOB; IDIOT; SLOTH; GLUTTON; IGNORANT and VERY VERY STUBBORN.

He needs to change his philosophy to the game. He doesn’t. F&* Him and F&* You and Double F^&* Jeff Lurie for letting all this BS go on year after year.

You then come at me because I am sick of his coaching and managment of talent.

I guess I am a fake ass fan and you should loosely consider me a part of the Eagles community. I’m sorry I don’t have wet dreams about Chad Johnson and continually repeat myself a million times over. Like you do.

When I have something new and my perspective changes, I will start blogging again.
Just to remind everyone, I am the guy that talks about Heart; COURAGE; FIRE; DETERMINATION ETC ETC. Andy Reid has something missing………………

And yes Brown was benched but he should be cut. So, again, he is only halfway there.

First learn to quote.

You then come at me because I am sick of his coaching and managment of talent.

Second, I don’t even know who you are, have you even posted anything legitimate here ever???? If you are one of the many Eagles fans that loves the Birds when they are winning and then calls for our coach to be fired and starting QB to be benched just because they have a bad game then yes I am coming at you. You’ve never had an off day, never not lived up to the expectations, they are human give them a break.

I am sick and tired of people flip flopping around like fucking fish out of water. If you want to complain about us not running the ball enough, cool, you want to talk about McNabb throwing the ball into the dirt, I agree it’s frustrating. But when you want them fired and tossed to the side one week and are kissing their feet the next then you my friend are the moron.

When I have something new and my perspective changes, I will start blogging again.

I’ll be holding my breath.

I read this site everyday. I don’t post anymore because I used to fight with people(Like you) and say the same thing over and over. I read this to learn more about the Eagles and football in general. I have learned somethings and I happy about the time spent on this site.

“Second, I don’t even know who you are, have you even posted anything legitimate here ever???? If you are one of the many Eagles fans that loves the Birds when they are winning and then calls for our coach to be fired and starting QB to be benched just because they have a bad game then yes I am coming at you. You’ve never had an off day, never not lived up to the expectations, they are human give them a break.”

When you come at me because I don’t post and then make up all this nonfactual nonsense, when you say yourself that you don’t even know me, that is retarded.

You even go so low to as even say that I don’t know how to write. Well homie, English police is really the coolest way to make your point. I mean what else says I am a idiot and I have nothing else better to add then calling out other peoples shortcomings.

Nonetheless, you are mistakin if you think I am a “Flip Flopper”. I am not. I have said a hundred times on this site that I don’t like the way Andy Reid runs my Eagles. He isn’t the worst coach in the world but we need better to win a championship. I have said that he cannot get that BYU pass happy bullshit out of his system. I have said that he is soft. I have said that this team is soft as shit every since Duce Staley and a bunch of other players have left.

This is all Andy Reids fault. He has done a lot of good stuff but he has slapped me in the face too many times with his 58 passes and clock mismanagment; personnel picks and disciplinary lapses. I mean he acts all hard with Duce, Trot and TO, yet he cannot even tell Brown and Sheppard that they are pussies and need to man up. How many times have we lost by 7 points or less in the last 2-3 seasons. I haven’t looked it up but that’s a bunch of BS. Cannot run the ball in the redzone? Are you really kidding me?

The point isn’t about that FAT MAN. It’s about you. You seem just like my 14 year old sister. She knows every single rule in math and english, yet she doesn’t know her asshole from a hole in the ground. I bet you know a thing or two about assholes since you seem so meticulous and picky. That’s some gay ass shit bringing up my english on a Eagles site(LMAO), because your a little bitch.

So yeah keep holding your breath, and you know what? Keep doing what you do, making up fantasies about other fans, checking for spelling and grammer errors(Living in the Gayboorhood), keep saying the obvious about this team and then keep having your heart broken by our pussy ass coach and GM. I’ll keep reading and waiting for a new coach that is the total package.

ugh I can't believe I'm wasting my time on this, it's a slow day at work.
When you come at me because I don’t post and then make up all this nonfactual nonsense, when you say yourself that you don’t even know me, that is retarded.

I didn’t “come at you” I made a general statement about fans flip flopping and you took it personally. I don’t know why you did, and I really don’t care.

You even go so low to as even say that I don’t know how to write.

I never said you can’t write, I said learn how to quote you quoted me and the quote was wrong, you can’t say “and I quote” and not get the quote right, sorry if I try not to look like an idiot even though it’s just an Eagles site, I still respect myself.

Nonetheless, you are mistakin if you think I am a "Flip Flopper".

Again I made a general statement and you are taking it personally. If someone were to post “Everyone who thinks McNabb is our best option at QB is an idiot” I would not get offended even though I think he is our best option, it’s a generalized statement.
because your a little bitch.

really dude are you getting tough on a blog, I try to stick to the facts and not get personal because there really is no point. People like me here, People don’t like me here, I still sleep fine at night. If you are getting worked up over this then maybe you should take a step back and realize there is more to life.

Getting tuff on a blog is stupid. That's one of the reasons I don't blog a lot.

You might be technically right.

I guess you made a generalized statement or whatever, but where I come from, whenever you make a generalized statement in the context of an argument that counts as a premise in your ‘kinda sorta’ conductive argument. So, I did take it personally because again, technicalities don’t exist where I grew up. Now that I am a big boy, I have to learn how to play your stupidass word games and all your foo foo rules.

And yes I have no idea of what signal phrase I should have used so I just break the rule and do what I feel. Even though it is technically wrong.

I hate fighting over gay shit the minute details, because they most defenitally should be the side dish to what should be the real argument.

So yes there is no hard feelings, but you should know that some people don’t play word games(There are arbitrary reasons behind this logic). Inside of Philadelphia is a place where word games are not used.

When you say you shouldn’t waste your time, you always do.

This guy again???? WTF is your problem?

I guess you just have a knack for being really corny and annoying. Did you major in Interior decorating or something? I mean I try and be cool and explain everything and all and bury the hatchet and then you want to get all cute again.

What is up with that?

Are you retarded or are you just one of those guys who talks all kinds of shit all the time.

I guess you didn’t really know that Philadelphia has many many different neighborhoods and areas. Meaning that Queens village(Where you and your partner go to your Hatha Yoga classes at 430am) is totally different than growing up in Kensington. So I guess your little sweet and cute ass really got me again. Wow, you are really talented at being a bitch. You might even be like a little St. Joes student on the Main line or something like that. So even more specifically I graduated from Kensington High, there and Frankford and Mastbaum and Douglas we don’t use cute word games. I know in St. Joes prep you sure do use word games and drink wine coolers and have pillow fights and then wear your Phillies cap to the side at the same time, but in Kensington you don’t(Because we do not like penis and Scrabble on Saturday night like you guys over in the gayborhood).

So, if you would like we could contiune calling me bud there tuff guy, or you can STFU!

Merry Chrismas!!!!

haha you are such a clown it's not even funny.

I’m so bad I grew up in Kensington … please. You said

I was simply stating that I live in Philly and you seem to think I use

use cute word games

which I take as using sentence structure and word you don’t understand but oh well. If you want to get tough on a blog and call me gay go right ahead I’m not going to lose sleep over it. So go ahead and hit your keyboard a little harder to really get your point across. Maybe you can go sling some crack or participate in a drive by because you are so gangsta. I’ve seen clowns like you before in my neighborhood and let me tell you, the minute you think the neighborhood you grew up in makes you tough is the minute you get stomped for being a fool remember that but I’m pretty sure you don’t run your mouth face to face like you do online, people who get tough on blogs are generally pathetic.
