yeah really… the unfortunate part of this is that 80% of the people that voted for Obama probably have no idea what socialism is nor have any idea what his plans actually involve… also, everyone that was bitching about McCain taxing health care… i hope they realized that you would be able to use all of that as tax credits when you file your income tax. i crunched the numbers and I would have actually made $1000 a year paying taxes on health care…

I'm a tax accountant
I’ve been screaming bloody murder for months! This was the perfect storm for a socialist to get elected. I will support Obama because I am an American… but wow, I’m telling you that most people dont realize what just happened.
America woke up this morning thinking the big deal was electing a black president (which is great i might add)… They totally overlooked the man’s policies.
Guess I’ll have to work twice as hard now.
Super

good day comrade 700 level!!!! welcome to the socialist states of america!
i’m with you man… this election was not about electing a black president, although that’s the mask it wore. both choices in this election were horrid, but mccain was the choice that would hurt us the least. we really fucked the dog on this one and everyone out there better fasten their seatbelts because this ride will get bumpy, and fast.
i’m not one to pass political judgement on people, but for those individuals out there that voted based on race (for or against) or voted because you felt we needed a change and didn’t bother to actually investigate both individuals’ platforms and actually disect the consequences…. you don’t deserve to have the privelage to vote…
in all honesty, given our current economic state, this may have been one of the most important elections in the history of this country… ever… and we made a choice that may have horrid ramifications that will ripple through the future of this country. Karl Marx is laughing in his grave right now.
i’m only 26 and i can’t even tell you how many people my age or younger told me they were voting for Obama because he seemed hip or cool… i wanted to shoot myself in the face everytime i heard this. there was a lady on Sirius this morning who was crying and saying how happy she was that she could now be late on her mortgage and utility bills and it’s okay because Obama’s policies will take care of her… you.have.got.to.be.fucking.kidding.me…
if that’s the popular view this country is developing at this point, i think i’m better off just driving off a cliff on the way home.
at this rate it’s not going to be long before secret police are kicking in my door at night and hauling me off to the fucking gulag in alaska somewhere.
do you live in philly btw?
oh yeah also, you should edit the title of this post to warn people that if their easily offended, they shouldn’t bother to come in here

but i should add this though...
In response to what u said about the lady from Sirius radio…. There are A LOT of dilusional people out there who think the Obama is going to save them from a lot of stuff that will flat out be unable to do or control.
Remember. This country is run by hard working individuals. Not those who are drain on society and are waiting for a govt. handout.

well i think that the outcome of last night’s vote might go a long way in reversing that trend… last night, this country was run by the drains on society…
i’m also fairly worried that 3/4 of the house/senate and the president are all from one party… there goes the natural checks and balances of having two parties… some crazy ass legislation is going to get passed over the next four years

i’m just hoping the senate gets at least 1 more republican (to get to 41) so there is no super majority. supermajority in senate+very liberal house+democratic president means no checks and balances. if it were the other way around and republicans on the verge of complete power in two of the three branches of government, i’d be hoping for at least some more dissenting opinion from the democrats. should be interesting…

maybe not
The repubs have had similar situations in the past and nothing much happened…
keep this in mind… Obama will want to be reelected in 4 years. Dont plan on much happening in the first four years. He pretty much even said it himself in his speech last night.
The dude is a great GREAT speaker, i will give him that!

eh, the other thing is to get reelected he’s going to have to make it look like he’s following through on his (crazy ass) plans… so i expect to see things happening… although, he may wait until the second term to disolve the Electoral College and declare his Emperorship…
yes he is an amazing public speaker… he knows exactly what to tell the mindless masses to get them on his side… seriously… i’m pretty frightened

I like to keep my politics and sports seperate ... but this I agree with you two to much not to chime in.
Most people I have talked to that voted for Obama (including my girlfriend) voted for him not because of his platform or policies but because of 3 reasons 1. He’s Black, 2. He’s a Democrat (and therefore the opposite of Bush), and 3. He’s hip and cool.
When I start to talk to them about policies I don’t use the candidates name and almost everyone agrees with McCain’s policies. It’s almost humorous … almost because it’s also sad at how idiot we can be as Americans.
It’s also funny to mention socialism to the Obama supporters and see everyone get pissed off and say “this is nothing like socialism Obama just wants to control how much money people make to stop the huge salaries” … hmm sounds like socialism to me.
Then they talk about how great of a speaker and motivator the guy is and you should see there faces when I remind them that many people said Hitler was one of the best speakers/motivators ever … oh and Nazi Germany was a socialst dictatorship by the way.
I just hope the US doesn’t end up being USSR Version 2.0
