Arizona Cardinals at Philadelphia Eagles Open Thread

Arizona Cardinals @ Philadelphia Eagles

Cropped-40x40_mediumCropped-40x40_medium

Location: Lincoln Financial Field - Philadelphia, PA

Time: 8:15

TV: 6ABC/NFL Network

Radio: 94WYSP/610WIP/Sirius 127

For a Cardinals perspective check out Revenge of the Birds

Did you know?

The only team in the NFL to throw more times per game than the Eagles is the Cardinals.

That Cardinals have not won a game in the Eastern time zone this year.

The Eagles are undefeated on Thanksgiving at 4-0

Bottom line

I hope everyone had a great holiday and hopefully the Eagles give us something to cheer about tonight. Maybe it's all the Turkey and booze but for some reason I have a good feeling about tonight. Don't screw it up Eagles.

Westbrook

Anyone know if he’s playing? And if so, what type of role can we expect from him tonight?

by Gnick on Nov 27, 2008 7:33 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

yes and not a big one…

Look, our star RB is nowhere near 100%, our backup RB is out, and our 3rd string RB goes down when defenders blow in his general direction.

Lets go Eagles

I’m actually pumped for this game. After the last few weeks I thought I wouldn’t get excited for this game but I’m am really juiced. Maybe its because it’s Thanksgiving and the Eagles are playing. Lets hope this game is better then the first two games.

by calunker on Nov 27, 2008 7:35 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I want to see blitzes. I know the WR’s can burn us, but Warner is a fumble machine when you get hits on him.

Anybody wanna make a prediction here?

What’s the deal with Samuel? Is he out?

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 8:02 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

yea, stinger

Look, our star RB is nowhere near 100%, our backup RB is out, and our 3rd string RB goes down when defenders blow in his general direction.

Is Sheppard starting in his place, or (shudder) Hanson?

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 8:08 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Just a casual observation

Anyone else notice that nearly every head coach that worked under Mike Holmgren’s (whom today called 45 passing plays compared to 23 rushing) system in Green Bay are either on the hot seat or have been fired?

  • Dick Jauron fired from Chicago and he seems to be getting heat for the Bills collapse after their fast start.
  • Andy Reid…..you know the rest.
  • Steve Mariucci fired by 2 teams.
  • Marty Mornhinweg was canned in Detroit.
  • Ray Rhodes was fired in Philly.
  • Jon Gruden is the only coach not on the hot seat and he’s the best coach from that bunch.

So blame Mike Holmgren for Andy Reid’s troubles….;-)

Good observation, SSreporters

Too many teams know how to defend against the WCO.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 8:15 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You could also take it a step further and realize how many good running backs ended up going to waste in the WCO

Charlie Garner, Michael Pittman, Brian Westbrook, Anthony Thomas……they preferred poor QBs like the immortal Joey Harrington over the running game.

Seattle, the world's worst sports city.

Hey, Kyle Eckel has his first run for the Eagles and gets a first down!

Anywhere we can watch this online other than NFL.com? It’s buffering 90% of the time…

Wonders never cease… Hansen gets an INT !

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 8:34 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Was kinda hoping Mora would take over. He got thrown under a bus in Atlanta and wasn’t a bad coach.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 8:34 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Um

Do we have a new coach? Cause what the hell are these plays…?

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 8:36 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I don’t believe it. Andy’s running the ball!

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 8:36 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Do you think Reid’s capable of adapting? If Coughlin could, could Reid?

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 8:37 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I pray to God so.

We’ll have to see if McNabb ends up throwing 60 times next game. These things rarely last very long with Reid.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 8:37 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Let's not get TOO excited

We’re running all over a nickel defense (like we should). The ARI D isn’t that graet… but what the hell, it’s been quite awhile since we seen the offense play so crisp!

by Joe_D on Nov 27, 2008 8:38 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

We tied the Bengals

I’ll take whatever I can get.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 8:40 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

the D

looking stout against the run.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 8:42 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Whoa!

Tonight could be our night!

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 8:44 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Geez, with all these throws, it’s like we’re defending against ourselves.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 8:44 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

well their run game is worse than ours.. we're doing a good job of getting some pressure though

warner aint a spring chicken, get some pressure on him and he’s real average imo

by Joe_D on Nov 27, 2008 8:45 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hahaha

The best part: even if we were losing right now, the team is actually watchable. Maybe I won’t throw up tonight.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 8:45 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yep,

And our defense isn’t on the field all the time. They’ll be the fresh ones in the 4th (hopefully) and Arizona’s D will be beat.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 8:52 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Front office deflects blame from Andy

Says it’s all the receivers/O Line’s fault. Looks like Andy’s not going anywhere.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 8:55 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I like Baskett. Don’t understand why he’s low man on the totem pole on Eagle’s depth chart.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 8:57 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Jeffrey Lurie prolly called Reid

“Andy, if you don’t run the ball, I’ll do worse than fire you: I’ll put you on a diet.”

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 8:57 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Not to be a party pooper

But I don’t think we’d be able to run like this against an NFC East opponent.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 8:58 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

HAHAHAHA!

Good one ajay! Lurie probably threatened to take away the donuts and buffets.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 8:59 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I really hope they draft that big TE Pettigrew. LJ ’s still toast.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:00 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

P.S.

Does anyone read Matt Mosley’s ESPN blog about the NFC East? This (Dallas loving) guy covers every Dallas game in depth and never does shit for the Eagles (or anyone else)

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 9:03 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

he was the Dallas beat reporter for years.

What do you expect? If Brookover or Sheridan was the blogger, they’d say the same thing. Local reporters get too cozy with their own team and don’t get the connections with other teams.

by OTP on Nov 27, 2008 9:06 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

but if you're hired by ESPN

to do a blog about the NFC EAST, shouldn’t you be expected to be a little more balanced?

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 9:09 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Just dropping by to ask if anyone has seen the Philadelphia Eagles. I’m watching the game but I swear it’s another team in those uniforms.

I’m speaking too soon aren’t I?

by Freak on Nov 27, 2008 9:07 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

No Freak, we’re wondering the same thing.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:08 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

seriously, how good does it feel to see the our greens play this well against this team?

4th and 26!!!!

by kingofnorth on Nov 27, 2008 9:09 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

If we gotta keep Reid,

Maybe he’s capable of learning. He’s gotten his ass handed to him and been embarrassed, so maybe he’s getting it.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:12 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Bradley has won the starting job permanently over Gaither?

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:13 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Looked like there could be a doubt, but is it enough to overturn the call?

by Freak on Nov 27, 2008 9:15 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Reid’s challenging

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:14 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

0-5 this year in challenges.

Not a bad call though, particularly at this point in the game.

by Freak on Nov 27, 2008 9:16 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Is Boldin the guy who had a serious neck injury earlier in the season?

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:17 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think he broke his jaw.

And was back within a week or something.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 9:18 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Damn!

Time for a Warner fumble?

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:19 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Gee…throwing on the 1 yard line… that looks like us!

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:21 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I didn’t see it.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:21 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Took them long enough though.

Not too disappointed in the defense.

by Freak on Nov 27, 2008 9:22 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Can Warner throw for 300 yards and we still win this game?

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:22 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nothing ever surprises me with the Eagles.

by Freak on Nov 27, 2008 9:24 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

by jayt on Nov 27, 2008 9:23 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Has Booker only run the ball once so far?

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:26 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think so

But for positive yardage.

Baby steps, JJ…baby steps.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 9:27 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I’d like to see them put together a successful drive in the next 2 minutes.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:27 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Booker

I just want to see what the guy can do! It’s time to evaluate the roster.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 9:28 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

True, the poor guy is just learning to block. I was calling him a waste of a roster space.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:28 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Agreed

Want to see all the young guys, Eckel, Mays, etc.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:30 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Dude

Reid has only run 41% of the time in his tenure in Philadelphia – lowest of ALL TIME.
That I did not know.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 9:31 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Pretty good I bet

Over 100 wins, but still, I didn’t know his ratio was the lowest EVER. That’s impressive.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 9:32 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Klecko had a good block for Eckel’s lone run in the 1st q.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:31 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

OK still not buying he’s a useful part of the team… yet.

Speaking of roster space…

is the only guy in the league who’s attempted more passes than McNabb

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:32 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

McNabb was more fun to watch when he did run.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:33 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

by jayt on Nov 27, 2008 9:35 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

He can still run. Trying to turn him into a pocket passer after he came back from that knee injury has been paet of the problem.

by BMY on Nov 27, 2008 9:35 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hey, they actually FIXED IT!

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 9:36 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

SHit. Max Jean Gilles is hurt. He’s the hole maker.

That looks like a knee injury.

Bad luck that both Andrews and his replacement go down.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 10:03 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

And Andrews has got what?

A phantom injury in his back and a bad case of p****?

JMO, I’ll shut up now.

His behavior has just pissed me off this year.

by Freak on Nov 27, 2008 10:05 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

by BMY on Nov 27, 2008 10:05 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

A lot of drama with that one

He said he had a “career threatening” injury last preseason and then went to the Pro Bowl. Weird.

Someone posted about Andrews maybe not wanting to come back. Depression and injury issues interrelated. A damn shame if he doesn’t come back.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 10:06 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You have to wonder

If he does come back, is his head going to be in the game?

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 10:08 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

With MJG, Andrews is a big loss but one we can overcome

at GUARD at least. I wonder how this effects our plan for tackle, because there had always been talk of moving Andrews out. Does it become more important to develop King or Justice now, or do we draft a 1st rounder next year?

by keithk on Nov 27, 2008 10:08 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

DJax

That guy is kinda fast.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 10:24 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I can’t believe it. Every guy I thought was trash is outperforming. Hanson, White, Booker. Next thing you know it, Considine will come up with a pick

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 10:26 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Shit

Jackson shouldn’t have touched it.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 10:27 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

tsk tsk

that was sloppy desean!

4th and 26!!!!

by kingofnorth on Nov 27, 2008 10:27 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

back off greg lewis was way too close to the ball when poison was called

by 0sirys on Nov 27, 2008 10:28 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

And the next play

is a 20 yard reception. Shit.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 10:28 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

DeSean was afriad that someone else had touched it. Avant was his guess…cant hate the guy…

the main even it here

Look up... get up...Don't ever, ever give up!!

by anuj on Nov 27, 2008 10:28 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I thought for sure if someone screwed up on special teams, it would be Greg Lewis. Where is he anyway?

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 10:29 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

what i dont like…is your feeling all good, then something bad happens

Look up... get up...Don't ever, ever give up!!

by anuj on Nov 27, 2008 10:29 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

We don’t wanna know.

by BMY on Nov 27, 2008 10:30 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Lito

Nice job, given up 2 TDs tonight.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 10:30 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

im not that pissed because we’ll get to see some more football… instead of 1 qtr of clock killing

by Joe_D on Nov 27, 2008 10:30 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

you know

when lito gets scored on, i don’t feel any mercy for him. for all his complaning and bitching this year, he gets beat a ton.
i said in a post in another thread, offenses pick on him.

4th and 26!!!!

by kingofnorth on Nov 27, 2008 10:30 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Not anymore. Having your head in your ass will do that to you.

by BMY on Nov 27, 2008 10:32 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Damn

Sheldon is a beast.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 10:32 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I used to like Lito. Isn’t Rosenhaus doing most of his talking?

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 10:33 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Only bad thing

is that his trade value decreases with his shitty play.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 10:34 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yup. My point exactly.

by BMY on Nov 27, 2008 10:33 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

That guy messes up a lot of players by running his mouth.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 10:34 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Screw it cut him. Worse thing have happened

by BMY on Nov 27, 2008 10:34 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah

He’s contributed nothing. We could’ve gotten two draft picks for him.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 10:35 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

That’s good YAC by Curtis

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 10:35 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Curtis is good stuff.

by BMY on Nov 27, 2008 10:36 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Hey guys

By the way, is Reggie Brown still even on this team? I know he was injured earlier this year but where is he now? I think he could be traded also.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 10:36 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I agree.

He’s become expendable with how well Jackson has been playing.

by Freak on Nov 27, 2008 10:37 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

His first two seasons

Showed so much promise. The last two have sucked balls.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 10:37 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

the nfl online commentators are awful. i’m gonna go watch it on network tv

by JGCarraway on Nov 27, 2008 10:37 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

+1

These guys are awful!

by EaglesPhan on Nov 27, 2008 10:38 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

No one is gonna trade for anything we want to trade.

by BMY on Nov 27, 2008 10:37 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

How wrong can I be?

Every guy I called garbage has contributed. The only one who hasn’t is Greg Lewis.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 10:37 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

he contributed to jackson jumping on that punt

by 0sirys on Nov 27, 2008 10:38 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

akers made 2 from 40+

by 0sirys on Nov 27, 2008 10:39 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

akers hasn't been bad

over the last handful of weeks. he had a rough start, but he’s been solid as of late

4th and 26!!!!

by kingofnorth on Nov 27, 2008 10:39 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

We still need a real ST coach

by BMY on Nov 27, 2008 10:40 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

so far as bad as you felt about the birds last week you have to feel that much on the good side after tonight

by 0sirys on Nov 27, 2008 10:40 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Arizona might be good

But they’re no Baltimore, let’s not kid ourselves.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 10:41 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah but our D has looked good against one of the top offenses in the league

by pooch900 on Nov 27, 2008 10:43 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

packers and giants win sunday and we are all of the sundden very much in the picture for the playoffs

by 0sirys on Nov 27, 2008 10:41 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah but it may get everyones head straight

by BMY on Nov 27, 2008 10:42 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Eagles depth chart

WR: Curtis, Avant, Baskett (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
WR: Brown, DJax, Lewis (1st, 2nd, 3rd).
Time to revise the depth chart, as DJax is leading receiver and Baskett is 2nd.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 10:41 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I like Baskett

I think he’s made a big step up this year. I like that fade route too.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 10:43 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Agreed.

It’s about time to show some balls and pick some starters. Let McNabb build some trust with a certain few receivers and make the rest situational.

by Freak on Nov 27, 2008 10:43 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Curtis and Jackson as 1 and 2

and Baskett and Avant as 3 and 4. Cut/trade Reggie and cut Lewis. Shorten the rotation.

by ajay on Nov 27, 2008 10:44 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

G Lew

Yeah why is that guy on the team?

by pooch900 on Nov 27, 2008 10:41 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Cost the team too much to cut him?

by BMY on Nov 27, 2008 10:43 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

its like how many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop. the world may never know

by 0sirys on Nov 27, 2008 10:43 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I wonder the same thing, pooch900.

by JJinPA on Nov 27, 2008 10:43 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

He’s still developing.
