"The one thing I would say to everyone else is, it doesn't matter how long you've played this game or how well you played it, there's always periods where it doesn't go in your favor," he said. "It doesn't mean you can't play anymore or you don't have a lot left in the tank. I guess you can ... look at my situation."
Two years ago, Warner was cut for the second time. Today, he's the league's leading candidate for his third MVP award.
"There's time things don't go in your favor, there's times when you're pressing and you don't carry a team, and sometimes trying to do more than you really should be trying to do, but you feel that responsibility as a leader of the team," he said. "It didn't mean I couldn't play, I was just pressing. But it doesn't mean you can't play. And I know [that] the situation with Donovan is that some things have gone against him the last couple of weeks, but he's still a great player. He's going to work his way out of it and I think he's going to be a great quarterback for the rest of his career."

Does anyone remember...
…just how bad Kurt Warner was in NY? I remember him once fumbling 8 times in two games or something. His tenure there makes McNabb’s current slump look like downright good QB play. Suddenly, give Warner Fitzgerald, Boldin, Hightower, Breaston, etc. and look what happens.

over the past 3 days...
I’ve kind of rethought what I think should happen in the offseason. I think McNabb should stay. He won’t, but i wish he would

I don’t think McNabb will stay, but do think he has good football left in him. We’ll see
how much leeway Eagle fans give him tomorrow against Arizona. In any case, the one thing I don’t want to see is him injured. He’s of no value to us if he’s hurt.

I can tell that i for one will not be booing him before the game
He may get a boo or two out of me if he plays like he has been, but honestly i think its time Eagles nation realizes that this guy was VERY good for us over the years. Did we win a superbowl? Obviously not. But if this is mcnabb’s last season in Philly I wont send him out that way

and by the way...
I’m not that worried about the chorus of Boo’s tomorrow, because judging by the amount of ridiculously low priced tickets on the web for the game, i don’t think there is anyway it’ll be a full house tomorrow night…
Which i’m not happy about, because packed out games are always more fun!

McNabb gets a free pass from me all the way through next season which ends his contract. I am thankful that we had the chance to have an elite QB on our team for years and yes I’m bitter about not having a Superbowl but I’ve never been as close as I was with McNabb so that will have to do for now.

By the way...
…I wasn’t sure where else to post this, but there are a lot of ex-Eagles on the Cardinals:
1. Pago Togafau
2. Rod Hood
3. Matt Ware
4. Dirk Johnson
Is there some Eagles-Cardinals front office connection I’m missing?

McNabb is not Warner
Remember, Warner was always a “pure passer”, which McNabb is not. The old (young) D-Mac made plays with his feet, whether running or scrambling, and defenses would always keep a “spy” on him, usually a LB. It’s much easier to complete passes when one LB is out of pass coverage and the others have one eye on the QB.
For whatever reason (age, injuries, AR trying to make him something he’s not) Donovan isn’t a threat to run anymore. A pure passer can play into his late 30’s (maybe early 40’s) but with the possible exception of Fran Tarkington, most running QB’s are done in their early to mid 30’s. Steve Young made it to 38, but he also rode the pine for 4 years (‘87-’90) and left with a cracked coconut.

Another stray post
Hey guys, I’ve heard that the Thanksgiving game will not be broadcast locally. Is this the case? And if you don’t have NFL network – which unfortunately the house where I will be does not – are there options to purchase individual games from the station or are only year-long packages available? Thanks.
