dnabb's defense.
you know what i don't understand about most of these sportswriters and a lot of the eagle idiot fans we have...why is it brett favre gets a pass for playing like absolute CRAP the last 3 or 4 years, but dnabb doesn't? dont' get me wrong, i'm a fan of brett. but dnabb has NEVER had a several season slump the likes of favre.
it's almost like espn and every other media outlet couldnt' wait for him to be in this position. truth is, while being healthy, dnabb has NEVER had a season this bad. that's gotta tell you something. favre on the otherhand has SEVERAL consecutive horrible seasons. green bay fans still supported him. the media didn't jump on him like they are doing with dnabb. you blood thirsty eagles fans (the idiot sub-breed of eagles fans which give all philly fans a bad name) call for his head. for what? kolb?
i'm really sick and tired of people saying this is dnabb and/or andy's last year in philly. are you kidding me? as i stated in a previous post, is that REALLY the answer? a lot of you eagles fans must be bandwagon fans as of 2004 and not remember the qb woes we've had on this team.
dnabb is a class act and always has been, but for whatever reason, in alot of facets he's viewed as being stuck up, not caring, and ''on a high horse''. i'll never understand that. even with the whole TO saga, he maintained professionalism, despite TO running his mouth any chance that he got. can you imagine how frustrating that would be? look at his numbers and please remember his receivers. put ANY of the top 5 qb's now in dnabb's position with those receivers. how many of them do you think would fare well? could romo/peyton/brady gather 4 nfc championships/super bowl appearances with the likes of todd pinkston, greg lewis, freddy mitchell?
yes, dnabb has been playing like crap, but that is not all of his fault. what's worse i think, is that the eagles organization has now built up a reputation of not paying top dollar to anybody. its almost like we'll only get a top notch receiver because of that player's relationship with donovan.
with that said, lets be clear: DONOVAN IS NOT THE REASON WE HAVE A 5-5-1 RECORD! trading/releasing dnabb will be the biggest mistakes the eagles ever make. you've all seen what's happened to the knicks when they traded patrick ewing his final year instead of letting him run his course. donovan has been/still is (although on a slump at the moment) a great quarter. more importantly, he's been great to the eagles and the city of philly.
yes, i'm a diehard dnabb fan. always have been, always will be. the day he's traded or released, my eagles loyalty is cut off completely and i'm going wherever he goes.

Favre, in his prime, was an offensive juggernaut. He has 8 seasons with 30 of more TD’s, including the run below from 1994-1998:
YEAR TEAM G CMP ATT PCT YDS AVG TD LNG INT RAT
1994 GNB 16 363 582 62.4 3882 6.7 33 49 14 90.7
1995 GNB 16 359 570 63.0 4413 7.7 38 99 13 99.5
1996 GNB 16 325 543 59.9 3899 7.2 39 80 13 95.8
1997 GNB 16 304 513 59.3 3867 7.5 35 74 16 92.6
1998 GNB 16 347 551 63.0 4212 7.6 31 84 23 87.8
I am not much of a stat junkie, but those numbers are just amazing. Favre has had some bad seasons, but look what he did last year. He took a mediocre team and led them to a 13-3 record and almost made the super bowl. The only quasi storybook season we got was the Garcia run in 2006, and they were losing bad until he took over. I know the media loves Favre, but he has the right attitude. He would never whine or complain about being labeled a gunslinger or a bad decision maker any of that, he will just go out and play. During his career, McNabb almost seemed hesitant to run, even when he should have, out of fear of being labeled. He has said as much.
Look, I agree with you that McNabb is still one of the better QB’s in the game. He has never had the offensive cast that Favre or any of the others have had. I would gladly welcome him back next year, but what makes you think they are going to all of a sudden give him some weapons besides a rookie WR and an aging, ailing RB?

I have sat through a lot worse with the Eagles than this, many, many poor decisions over the years and decades, so I am not sure what to make of that statement. Are you are a McNabb fan and not an Eagles fan?

There is something about Favre though that just seems to command more respect. He has infectious enthusiasm for the game. Also, regarding Manning and Favre, they really don’t miss games. Favre is one of the true ironmen in pro sports today. I know injuries are unlucky and you can’t personally blame McNabb for them (he always comes to camp in shape), but durability issues become a stigma in the eyes of the fans and media. I know McNabb is a tough guy, I have seen him play through many an injury in his time in Philly. But, if you miss several seasons, throw up in the super bowl, etc, then those things will effect the way you are portrayed by the media, fair or not.
Regarding Javon Walker, I heard he did get a big payday, how well is it working out for him now? In all seriousness, I did think Favre was out of line talking about Walker’s hold out.

mcnabb
we all know i love mcnabb as well , but nodar came in solid witht the pwn lol …. nice … +1 … as far as giving up on the eagles and following mcnabb where he goes … and then king you talk about bandwagon fans ie the 2004 super bowl run … so your throwing all your fanhood away because of a moronic group who will realize thier mistake when hes gone ? id sit by with a bowl of popcorn (which is what i plan on doing) and when they trade or realease mcnabb and he wins a superbowl im gonna laugh … not to say kolb cant do better , we just know mcnabb is capable but yet to accomplish ….

In that case, you are not a true Eagles fan. The day that McNabb is traded or released, I’ll help you pack in your Eagles’ fandom and show you where the door is. I find your lack of allegiance disturbing. And no, McNabb isn’t the only reason that we’re 5-5-1, but he’s a big damn part of it. Let’s humor your assessment that McNabb is a patron saint of football and obviously he can do no wrong… Say we get a different coach next year and we keep McNabb. New Coach calls for a square in to Jackson (a throw McNabb consistantly throws 3-5 yards short and into the ground), please tell me how changing the coach is going to mystically help McNabb become a more accurate passer…. it won’t.
I thank him for everything he’s done, but his time is going quickly. He was never accurate. His edge was that he could run around and let coverage break down and then have the ability to throw the ball to an area and have the WR get it. He doesn’t have that luxury anymore and his shortcomings are quickly showing through.
