Separate the Head Coach and GM positions!
Has anyone heard any statements from either Jeff Lurie or Joe Banner concerning Andy Reid's future? The front office seems awfully quiet.
At this point, one thing Lurie/Banner have to do is separate the GM and Head Coach position. Tom Heckert may have the job in title but Reid is still making the decisions. As long as Reid is around, Heckert's only a figurehead. And if Reid isn't around, can he do the job?
Ray Rhodes and Andy Reid held both positions......Remember Rhodes wasting a first Round pick on Jon Harris and Reid trading us out of the first round ?
So if you're Lurie, do you ....
A. Clean house, fire Reid and Heckert and bring in a new GM and HC
B. Fire Reid, keep Heckert and bring in a new HC
C. Keep Reid, fire Heckert, separate the jobs and bring in a new GM?
Any suggestions for GM and HC?

wasn't this year's draft insanely good?
personally, i’m really digging on 5th round pick joe mays. and the 4th rounder, ikegwuonu, was a borderline first round talent after the college season ended. he’ll be 18 months out from tearing his ACL come july 2009, so he’ll either be back and ready for the show, or it’ll be a waste.
7th rounder, king dunlap, is a beast of a man who dominated his opposition in the preseason. 3rd rounder bryan smith also looked like a beast in the preseason as an outside pass rusher. he’ll hopefully supplant chris clemons at some point.
and then, there’s the second round picks. laws has been stout enough for klecko to be moved back to offense, while d-jax has been the best offensive player.
heckert is most definitely not the problem.
When they should be sacrifice bunting, they are buying effeminate designer jeans. When they should be fouling off pitches, they are masturbating. Always, they are masturbating.

Well...
…it’s up to Jeffrey Lurie. He always seemed like the “hands off” type of owner which is why he designated so much responsibility to Andy in the first place. It strikes me that there are not too many head coaches who also act as GMs. So it’d ultimately be up to Lurie to make a change. And I haven’t heard a peep out of him.

And I fire Joe Banner too, just for good measure.
See my post for my ideas for head coach.
For GM, can’t we just say we’re sorry and bring back Modrak?

Whoever it is, just don't trade away our #1 picks!
Agree with you that Modrak got hosed. He was a good judge of talent in Pittsburgh.
Whoever it is as GM, as long as he’s his own man and not Andy Reid. The two jobs really need to be separated.
Bob Brookover in the Inquirer had an article yesterday “Front office sources fault line, receivers.” Front office supports Reid and thinks he has sufficient talent in the locker room. Sounds like Reid is going to be here next year.
