Benching McNabb? A Bitch Move

Let's face facts.

If McNabb leaves, he'll win a Super Bowl with another team. And then he'll probably stick his middle finger up to the city of Philadelphia and his former coach Andy Reid.

Think Randall Cunningham but multiply it.

Are you kidding me? Give McNabb Fitzgerald and Boldin, it's over. Give McNabb Owens, Crayton, Williams, and Witten...it's over. Give McNabb Steve Smith over in Carolina....it's over. Give McNabb Plaxico, Toomer and a power running game in Brandon Jacobs plus 2 other solid running backs...it's over. Give McNabb Wayne, Harrison, Dallas Clark...it's over. He's winning...hands down.

You remember what Cunningham did with Robert Smith running his ass off and Randy Moss and Cris Carter. He was an NFL-MVP. One field goal away from a Super Bowl appearance.

Starting to see a pattern Philly fans?

Westbrook didn't even look alive today. Buck can't even play. Andy refuses to max protect for McNabb like the Mannings, Warners, and Favre's get.

And don't get me started on the receivers. They didn't magically get open for Kolb either...you know why? Because they're sub-par. It's the story of Donovan's career. What a waste of pure talent.

Take a good look, Philly. Andy has put a stamp on what Philly fans have been calling for for soooooo long. So don't cry now.

Just watch an unbelievable athlete with plenty of football left win for another team next season and the season after that.

Here's to you, Donovan. You don't deserve this.

We don't deserve this.

And to quote Phil Sheridan's headline in the Inquirer, "Shame on Andy Reid"

I disagreed with the move too, but...

…Ashley Fox (believe it or not) might have a point: Andy has made the move; can he undo it now? If Andy announces tomorrow that Kolb is the starter then McNabb might be finished for good right?

ajay, in all honesty

putting McNabb back as the starter would just be wild and wreckless. almost as wild and wreckless as removing him in the first place.

when you bench your starting qb, your sending a certain “emphatic” message. when you bench a player that has been the cornerstone of your team for the last 10 seasons, you send an even more emphatic message.

to undo it now, what message does that send to everyone else on the team? that andy’s willing to experiment with the season on the line…and then goes back on his decision in a matter of days?

none of it makes sense. mcnabb should never have been benched.

but ashley fox is right. once the coach makes a move, albeit a bitch move, he makes a move.

of all the ‘bold’ moves andy could have made, like running the fucking ball on 2nd and inches on the goal line, this wasn’t what I expected.

I wonder what B Dawk and B West and guys like Runyan think of how Andy handled this.

trust me, it’s all going to come back and haunt the Eagles, the city and their fans.

b/c if McNabb goes elsewhere? It’s Super Bowl time. And it’ll be misery time for the Birds.

why can't he undo it?

if mcnabb was sucking (like he was) andy should be able to turn to his back up without a media firestorm. big move-yes. reasonable-i think so. mcnabb had turned the ball over 7 times in 3 halves. this was a must win. mcnabb was not having a good day. andy went to his next best option. i don’t know if it was a good move, but everyone has bad days. and when those bad days come on the day of a must win game, the coach needs to do something

There are plenty of reasons to bench your Quarterback that alot of us may be seeing. Maybe McNabb hasn’t been putting enough effort into the practice as he usually does. I really have not thought McNabb was there mentally this week or last (and this has nothing to do with the OT thing, which got blown wayyy out of proportion i might add). Maybe Andy just got tired of Donavon smiling while we lost.

Either way, you saying he will win a SB with a new team is some ridiculous horse shit. I have never seen such an inconsistent player. If I had nickel for every ball he threw into the turf I would be a rich rich man.

clyde

the one year he didn’t play “andy ball” – they year he had owen’s services for a full season…they went to the super bowl…

so…he gets on another team with a decent wide receiver(s) and any running game better than westbrook…

it’s a W-R-A-P

Do you know anything about football?

I applaud the big man for the gutsy move. I am his biggest critic on this blog.
He had the chance to try and right this mess of a team. Putting McNabb back sends the wrong message. What are you going to achieve for the upcoming season(s) w/ Kolb on the pine.
Kolb must be thinking that because of his ineptness he didn’t win the job so Andy had to go back to Mc Nabb. BAD MOVE. Your team will accomplish nothing this season and further delay the advancement of a young QB.
This team will not make the playoffs Any thought of that is wasted energy.
Now Kolb has to set on the bench for the rest of this season w/ a bad taste in his mouth and with shattered confidence.
Mc Nabb will not be here next season and it was time to see what he can do.
Once again Andy fucked up.

quite knowledgable on it, thanks

you want to fire him cause we’re not winning, but when he does something to try to win NOW, you bitch? now you’re thinking about next season and the future? but you want him fired cause we’re not winning right now. would you like some cheese with your whine? right now, mcnabb is better, and andy needs to save his job by winning now.

But...

…if you ask McNabb to start again a) is he going to trust Reid and b) what if he struggles again? Then we’re in Chicago QB carousel territory.

P.S.

If we do trade McNabb, we’d get a serious haul don’t you think? Potentially a first rounder and that would give us three next year…

by ajay on Nov 23, 2008 10:56 PM EST reply actions

There’s no doubt Reid’s offense is a joke… It’s likely that no QB is going to be successful in it…

But there’s only so many excuses one can make for McNabb. He’s played in this offense for a long time with less weapons than he has now… He’s never turned the ball over 7 times in a game and half. He’s been awful. You can’t deny that.

i wouldn’t exactly say it was a good whole season up to it… it was an average season riddled by poor first quarter passing and general stints of ineffectiveness… honestly, his stats up to this game may not look to bad, but his play was actually worse than his stats dictate.

World F*ckin' Champions, indeed...
