Dejavu from last week.
Defense playing well, QB playing terrible, no attempt to establish a run game.
18 passes, 9 runs
some thoughts
ok i know i know sometimes my info is a bit antiquated (not my fault i run a small biz, ima new dad AND I live in new england) However I think i kow what im talking about here…..The philadelphia eagles are a bizness and just like any bizness they sell a product ….the product is our entertainment…..unfortunately I think most of my fellow fans dont realize WE are consumers amd consumers have power of their own …If we the consumer dont like the product (the eagles) WE should stop buying said product until it improves…no more tickets no more merchandise no MORE!!!!and than maybe Jeff Lurie changes the product……nuff said
That sounds great
But, keep in mind a large number of ticket holders had to buy a seat license. If you stop buying your tickets, you lose the $2,500-$3,000 you paid per license. I had to buy 2 licenses for the pair of tickets I have. So, I would lose $6,000 to make that statement. I’m sure people paid more for club box seats. I could sell my seat license, but then it would just be another person sitting in my seat and paying for the tickets. So what good does that do?
The only thing you can do is stop buying food, drinks, and souvenirs at the games. The “stop buying tickets” solution is not realistic.

Tie repeat of last week.... Yellow Alert
will it end in another tie? the way these teams are playing.
yes.
Calling Duce Staley...
I don’t understand deactivating Booker with Westbrook hurting . I know Booker isn’t much, but he’s a healthy body! Now if Buck is hurt, who do we get to run…..KLECKO?!
Wow that is a fucking statement.
"I need to do a better job of putting players in the right position to perennially come up short of expectations"
I think he does … maybe he will wake up and start playing like we all know he can. I love this move for now.
"I need to do a better job of putting players in the right position to perennially come up short of expectations"
Now we gotta send McNabb to Chicago. He’ll be crushed after this, being such a sensitive guy and all. This will mess with his head.
With the latest quality of his throws I’m not so sure his head is 100% to begin with.
by FireTheWalrus on Nov 23, 2008 3:04 PM EST up reply actions
The Walrus is scared....
Maybe Andy’s job isn’t as secure as we thought…
Guys, it's over now. This is the end of the era.
Reid is so desperate that he has benched his own son
its just a statement ... I've been benched before as the captain of my team
it sucks but I was like a whole new person the next time I went in. We’ll really see what McNabb is made of by how he reacts
"I need to do a better job of putting players in the right position to perennially come up short of expectations"
So Kolb comes out in his first series, throws a nice pass for a first down that gets dropped. Blatantly dropped.
Welcome to the life of an Eagles QB Kolb…
The end of an era
I don’t know that Kolb is gonna fare any better with this playcalling. It isn’t all McNabb’s fault, but benching him makes a statement that Reid thinks it is.
The Ravens have a depleted secondary which barely holds up even with a full week of tape review. Having a quarterback in who we’ve never seen could pose major problems.
My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver
I am really not stunned. McNabb was costing us points…literally. A move had to be made. Andy, for once, did the right thing to give his team the best chance to win on this day.
I'm with you .. I'm not stunned at all
I will be if this is permanent but it’s just a statement.
"I need to do a better job of putting players in the right position to perennially come up short of expectations"
I am not stunned either
I started thinking in the second quarter how much longer this can go on with McNabb.
I like him too, but I am not sorry to see it happen to him, I was hoping for it. I don’t think you pull a proven vet at the first sign of trouble, but this has been going on for a while now. It’s either the style of offense or the guy leading it, and Reid has obviously made the decision that for today at least, it’s the guy.
I will bet that McNabb still starts next week, or there’s a competition. I think Reid is just trying to save this game, and maybe the season.
If they lose here and/or against Arizona, it will be Kolb the rest of the way.
Make no mistake though, McNabb is not being screwed here, he played his way out of the job with several slow starts in a row, inaccuracy and the turnovers the last 6 quarters.
McNabb a scapegoat?
Yeah, the guy’s been playing shitty, but this is sending a message that he’s done in this town. It’s not entirely his fault. We’ll see how far Reid’s playcalling gets us with Kolb now.
I would be surprised I’ll say that.
"I need to do a better job of putting players in the right position to perennially come up short of expectations"
Well get ready to be surprised
Its over bro. Andy wouldn’t do this to Don if he thought he would bounce back.
Considine is near every bad thing that happens
Not blaming, just saying. Good things never happen when he’s around.
You're blaming
But I’m ok with that. :)

I hate this team!
you all know me well enough to know that I love the Eagles and always will, but i’m reaching an all new levels of pissed off
"and with that play the Philadelphia Eagles complete the most improbable run to a Superbowl Crown in NFL history"
-Merrill Reese (February 1, 2009)
Maybe Reid’s job is actually on the line like we’d all like it to be. I thought it would take a 3 -13 season for Lurie to make a change, but now, I’m not so sure…
Reid is safe, most definitely
We just need better players on offense.
We need some good blocking up front and a good pass catching TE
I think it's plain to see this team is fighting for its life
on all levels. If the status quo is no longer working, Lurie’s too smart to leave it alone.
It’s basically how they rally from 5-4-1. Other seasons they’ve started slow and rally late, but this season doesn’t seem like other seasons.
lol
Reid throwing random red flags around…
What a train wreck in progress…
I have a sneaking suspicion that Reid might be fired after this game. He is not his usual unexpressive self on the sideline, he looks like a man whose job is on the line TODAY.
You can’t do it on a short week.
If they lose this and Arizona, it’s over though. Reid might last to the end of the season, but this whole regime gets overhauled after this year if we see 5-6-1.
It’s not a below .500 roster, that’s for sure. But it’s the NFL, every team has talent, doesn’t take much to get you beat.
They are getting
even fewer calls than usual.
Challenge flag? Reid is desperate.
At least he gets that.

because he would run the ball.
"I need to do a better job of putting players in the right position to perennially come up short of expectations"
Cowher would draft a big back like Bettis too… Have a trio of runners, each getting 15 touches a game.
How can you guys say Donovan will start on Thursday?
If Andy thinks Kolb can do better against the Ravens than McNabb, why would he think otherwise against the Cards?
dude you just aren't understanding the concept ... its a statement to McNabb ... get your act together.
"I need to do a better job of putting players in the right position to perennially come up short of expectations"
I totally understand it bro
But in a league where perception is so important, why would Andy “admit” to a problem/mistake only to admit another mistake the next week?
how is he admiting a mistake?

"I need to do a better job of putting players in the right position to perennially come up short of expectations"
Did the Giants bench Eli when he sucked? No. Because they believed he still had it. They could have made a lot of statements, but they didn’t. That being said, I see you point and it is possible that McNabb could be back.
um Eli was a young QB he had to play through it ... different situation

if you can argue that Kolb outplayed McNabb and is proven you win.
"I need to do a better job of putting players in the right position to perennially come up short of expectations"
That's true
The players have to hunker down and respond.
When it happened to me as a player, I wasn’t expecting the fans to cheer for my poor play.
We are the fans here, I think it’s fair for us to be frustrated.
No one that cares enough to be on this board is jumping off the bandwagon.
Defense needs to stay on the field
The Ravens have a better chance of scoring while we’re on offense
Andy needs to get slapped
Having his rookie throw every down…really? In his first start? Against the Ravens?
What an idiot.

at this point it’s got to be on the coach right? it has to. Reid has imploded on national television.
anyone think he might be fired tomorrow? i seriously think it could happen.
I doubt it ... unless the FO is ready to quit on the season and clean house ...
firing a coach in the NFL is tough this late in the season … once they are out of the playoff hunt anything is possible (which could be after this game I suppose)
"I need to do a better job of putting players in the right position to perennially come up short of expectations"
For the love of god
please put putzovan Mcbaddecision back in the game. this is sooooooo ugly I don’t think I can watch. pathetic.
eh...
i’m not even upset at our defense. considering how long they’ve been on the field..only a matter of time before they would start to fatigue…
i hope lito is happy.
4th and 26!!!!
how long they’ve been on the field..only a matter of time before they would start to fatigue…
this gets said a lot … I think I might have said it before but its really odd … I mean A) they are professional athletes and should be able to handle this but B) the offense is on the field just as long then why aren’t they fatigued?
"I need to do a better job of putting players in the right position to perennially come up short of expectations"
agreed
for all of his complaining you’d think we had champ bailey benched or something.
is it me, or do offenses gun directly for lito when he’s in the game?
pretty sure it isn’t me…
4th and 26!!!!
kolb is a loser…dude bootlegs and scrambles on 1 side of the field every down and makes the whole D just have to defend 1 side of the fields…
okay…off-season plan: fire reid, dump mcnabb, hire cowher, draft a new ot and maybe a new rb in the first round, get a wr and a te in free agency.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Jeffery Lurie, can lard ass NOW. There are still 5 games left, and I want to be able to watch them.
what are you talking about? I have been calling for Reid to be fired for weeks! You are a homophobic piece of shit with a temper who can’t decide which member of this team he hates the most. The problem with finishing at or around 8-8 is that we always end up in the middle of the first round in the draft. Top 10 would be nice. Of course, if andy is still around, he will find a way to trade out of the first round.
Lurie, Banner, and most of all Reid
I hate you all.

the D
the D doesn’t deserve to take any flack after this game. NONE. they played hard and kept us in it as long as humanly possible. The D always gives us a chance and the O continues to be completely inept.
At the very least, get a GM....
Andy has two choices to trade away in this round, too. At the very least, hire a real GM. Heckert doesn’t have the job, we all know Reid pulls the strings. At the very least, don’t let Andy assess this talent, as he’ll be drafting for a quick fix to save his own ass and not for the long term benefit of this team!!!
I demand to hear from Lurie, RIGHT F'ING NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to know that Lurie and Banner are both ashamed of this crappy team.

AAAGGHH!
Obviously the Eagles are losing because of Reid. Both quaterbacks couldn’t do anything. We need a new coach. The team has no respect for him anymore. And I don’t blame them. I don’t even care about the Thanksgiving game now. When your number of interceptions outnumber the times that you scored, you have a problem. A BIG problem!
but there was hope
no matter how bad mcnabb played you know he would make a play sooner or later u know that

A better game...
Let’s go Cardinals! Beat the snot outta the Giants!
Question
Kolb may very well be a great QB some day…God knows I hope so, but really? Why give him the reins today?
Wow
So, McNabb cant do shit. Well lets put Kolb in and call the exact same plays. Oh Shit, that didnt work either. God Reid and Marty are both calling some terrible games. Well, the season is over. Ill be there Thursday, not sure I am going to like what happens. If Im McNabb Im getting the hell out of Philly while I still have an arm. I think its pretty clear that while #5 was having a bad game this week and last week the problem isnt him. I wish you luck wherever you end up..

That's true
But even when it was within reach it seemed a little unbalanced. Maybe you’re right though
Fast train to Chicago?
Did Reid just destroy what confidence McNabb might have had left? McNabb’s not a guy with intestinal fortitude (ie…puking in big games) , so if he goes back to McNabb, does McNabb respond by putting on the big boy pants, or by pouting? Tune in Turkey day to find out….
No comment on the QB in the press conference...
Who the hell is going to start? Way to go, Andy. You’ve just screwed the pooch.

In the post game press conference, Reid said he hasn’t talked to McNabb yet. You mean to tell me you let an assistant coach tell your starting QB he is benched!?!?!?!? OMG!!!!!! This guy is worse than I thought at coach. How can you do that? What does that say about Reid as a head coach? What does it say about Reid as a person??
