Dejavu from last week.

Defense playing well, QB playing terrible, no attempt to establish a run game.

18 passes, 9 runs

by JasonB on Nov 23, 2008 2:51 PM EST reply actions

More of an attempt to establish the run than last week, but still, a sorry excuse for an attempt. Especially when you consider looks like crap on ice out there.

by FuquaManuel on Nov 23, 2008 2:53 PM EST up reply actions

i think it’s 10 runs, but yea.

by JGCarraway on Nov 23, 2008 2:53 PM EST up reply actions

Well, one was a little McNabb scramble… so that was actually a called pass play even though it gets marked as a run play.

by JasonB on Nov 23, 2008 2:59 PM EST up reply actions

Dan Klecko’s the leading receiver so far? NOT GOOD>

by JJinPA on Nov 23, 2008 2:51 PM EST reply actions

Man, am I happy I missed everything up til the first field goal for the Ravens.

by JGCarraway on Nov 23, 2008 2:52 PM EST reply actions

I wish we could be stubborn the other way round…“just keep running”

by LeonSA on Nov 23, 2008 2:54 PM EST reply actions

He did get hurt in the first half. He eventually came back…

some thoughts

ok i know i know sometimes my info is a bit antiquated (not my fault i run a small biz, ima new dad AND I live in new england) However I think i kow what im talking about here…..The philadelphia eagles are a bizness and just like any bizness they sell a product ….the product is our entertainment…..unfortunately I think most of my fellow fans dont realize WE are consumers amd consumers have power of their own …If we the consumer dont like the product (the eagles) WE should stop buying said product until it improves…no more tickets no more merchandise no MORE!!!!and than maybe Jeff Lurie changes the product……nuff said

by northern eagle on Nov 23, 2008 2:55 PM EST reply actions

That sounds great

But, keep in mind a large number of ticket holders had to buy a seat license. If you stop buying your tickets, you lose the $2,500-$3,000 you paid per license. I had to buy 2 licenses for the pair of tickets I have. So, I would lose $6,000 to make that statement. I’m sure people paid more for club box seats. I could sell my seat license, but then it would just be another person sitting in my seat and paying for the tickets. So what good does that do?

The only thing you can do is stop buying food, drinks, and souvenirs at the games. The “stop buying tickets” solution is not realistic.

Our coach is bad. Our offensive players are bad or hurt. That is all you really need to know.

Andy was never cool with the idea of getting a star WR, and then the T.O. experience traumatized him from ever doing it again.

Tie repeat of last week.... Yellow Alert

will it end in another tie? the way these teams are playing.

yes.

by JGCarraway on Nov 23, 2008 2:57 PM EST reply actions

I wish I could bang it into Andy’s head to give Buckhalter the ball.

by LeonSA on Nov 23, 2008 2:59 PM EST reply actions

Calling Duce Staley...

I don’t understand deactivating Booker with Westbrook hurting . I know Booker isn’t much, but he’s a healthy body! Now if Buck is hurt, who do we get to run…..KLECKO?!

it sucks but I was like a whole new person the next time I went in. We’ll really see what McNabb is made of by how he reacts

by Whodie126 on Nov 23, 2008 3:08 PM EST up reply actions

Did anyone see the shot of McNabb on the sideline before the start of the game? He looked like a nervous wreck. He knew this was coming and I can’t help but think that he played so poorly because he was playing nervous.

by FuquaManuel on Nov 23, 2008 3:07 PM EST reply actions

So Kolb comes out in his first series, throws a nice pass for a first down that gets dropped. Blatantly dropped.

Welcome to the life of an Eagles QB Kolb…

by JasonB on Nov 23, 2008 3:09 PM EST reply actions

The end of an era

I don’t know that Kolb is gonna fare any better with this playcalling. It isn’t all McNabb’s fault, but benching him makes a statement that Reid thinks it is.

by JJinPA on Nov 23, 2008 3:10 PM EST reply actions

I know this: the defense can’t tail off in the second half.

by FuquaManuel on Nov 23, 2008 3:11 PM EST reply actions

The Ravens have a depleted secondary which barely holds up even with a full week of tape review. Having a quarterback in who we’ve never seen could pose major problems.

My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

by Baltimo on Nov 23, 2008 3:13 PM EST reply actions

Yeah but the Defense can’t be on the field for another 20+ minutes of the game. We need some offense.

by FuquaManuel on Nov 23, 2008 3:15 PM EST reply actions

I'm with you .. I'm not stunned at all

I will be if this is permanent but it’s just a statement.

"I need to do a better job of putting players in the right position to perennially come up short of expectations"

by Whodie126 on Nov 23, 2008 3:16 PM EST up reply actions

I am not stunned either

I started thinking in the second quarter how much longer this can go on with McNabb.

I like him too, but I am not sorry to see it happen to him, I was hoping for it. I don’t think you pull a proven vet at the first sign of trouble, but this has been going on for a while now. It’s either the style of offense or the guy leading it, and Reid has obviously made the decision that for today at least, it’s the guy.

I will bet that McNabb still starts next week, or there’s a competition. I think Reid is just trying to save this game, and maybe the season.

If they lose here and/or against Arizona, it will be Kolb the rest of the way.

Make no mistake though, McNabb is not being screwed here, he played his way out of the job with several slow starts in a row, inaccuracy and the turnovers the last 6 quarters.

McNabb a scapegoat?

Yeah, the guy’s been playing shitty, but this is sending a message that he’s done in this town. It’s not entirely his fault. We’ll see how far Reid’s playcalling gets us with Kolb now.

I would be surprised I’ll say that.

by ajay on Nov 23, 2008 3:22 PM EST reply actions

Maybe Reid’s job is actually on the line like we’d all like it to be. I thought it would take a 3 -13 season for Lurie to make a change, but now, I’m not so sure…

by JJinPA on Nov 23, 2008 3:23 PM EST reply actions

Reid is safe, most definitely

We just need better players on offense.

We need some good blocking up front and a good pass catching TE

by Joe_D on Nov 23, 2008 3:24 PM EST up reply actions

I think it's plain to see this team is fighting for its life

on all levels. If the status quo is no longer working, Lurie’s too smart to leave it alone.

It’s basically how they rally from 5-4-1. Other seasons they’ve started slow and rally late, but this season doesn’t seem like other seasons.

by FireTheWalrus on Nov 23, 2008 3:24 PM EST reply actions

I have a sneaking suspicion that Reid might be fired after this game. He is not his usual unexpressive self on the sideline, he looks like a man whose job is on the line TODAY.

by FuquaManuel on Nov 23, 2008 3:25 PM EST reply actions

You can’t do it on a short week.

If they lose this and Arizona, it’s over though. Reid might last to the end of the season, but this whole regime gets overhauled after this year if we see 5-6-1.

It’s not a below .500 roster, that’s for sure. But it’s the NFL, every team has talent, doesn’t take much to get you beat.

That's true

The players have to hunker down and respond.

When it happened to me as a player, I wasn’t expecting the fans to cheer for my poor play.

We are the fans here, I think it’s fair for us to be frustrated.

No one that cares enough to be on this board is jumping off the bandwagon.

At the very least, don’t let Andy assess this talent, as he’ll be drafting for a quick fix to save his own ass and not for the long term benefit of this team!!!

OOPS.. Andy has two choices in the FIRST round.

I demand to hear from Lurie, RIGHT F'ING NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to know that Lurie and Banner are both ashamed of this crappy team.

Hey Joe Banner, are you still chuckling that this is a good team? YOU SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!

by Baron Dainer Von Tresvant on Nov 23, 2008 4:23 PM EST reply actions

There’s talent on this team. It’s just that it’s either injured or misused.

by JJinPA on Nov 23, 2008 4:24 PM EST reply actions

F off

I don’t want to hear about the ravens defense. Yippee. they shut down the most disfuncional offense I’ve ever seen in my life. Kolb has a girlie arm.

Our d

Our d rules. give JJ the whole team. he’s clever and he’s got balls.

by ddoubleu on Nov 23, 2008 4:31 PM EST up reply actions

AAAGGHH!

Obviously the Eagles are losing because of Reid. Both quaterbacks couldn’t do anything. We need a new coach. The team has no respect for him anymore. And I don’t blame them. I don’t even care about the Thanksgiving game now. When your number of interceptions outnumber the times that you scored, you have a problem. A BIG problem!

Always does the trick…hehe.

A better game...

Let’s go Cardinals! Beat the snot outta the Giants!

by JJinPA on Nov 23, 2008 4:32 PM EST reply actions

Question

Kolb may very well be a great QB some day…God knows I hope so, but really? Why give him the reins today?

by ajay on Nov 23, 2008 4:35 PM EST reply actions

Wow

So, McNabb cant do shit. Well lets put Kolb in and call the exact same plays. Oh Shit, that didnt work either. God Reid and Marty are both calling some terrible games. Well, the season is over. Ill be there Thursday, not sure I am going to like what happens. If Im McNabb Im getting the hell out of Philly while I still have an arm. I think its pretty clear that while #5 was having a bad game this week and last week the problem isnt him. I wish you luck wherever you end up..

by EaglesPhan on Nov 23, 2008 4:35 PM EST reply actions

If they do trade him...

…which is, I think, a bad idea…I will still root for the guy.

by ajay on Nov 23, 2008 4:38 PM EST up reply actions

P.S.

Did you notice that the one really good drive Kolb had, we hit DJax like three straight times?

ANYBODY GOT A LINK TO THE POSTGAME

Maybe this will help Donovan? That’s the thinking.

here we go

WHY IN THE HELL DO ALL THE GOOD PLAYERS LEAVE PHILLY AND BECOME GREAT AND BETTER THAN THEY EVER WERE THERE charles barkley said it last year " DONOVAN" leave while your good he said he shoulda left earlier this is another example

That's true

But even when it was within reach it seemed a little unbalanced. Maybe you’re right though

by ajay on Nov 23, 2008 4:44 PM EST up reply actions

Fast train to Chicago?

Did Reid just destroy what confidence McNabb might have had left? McNabb’s not a guy with intestinal fortitude (ie…puking in big games) , so if he goes back to McNabb, does McNabb respond by putting on the big boy pants, or by pouting? Tune in Turkey day to find out….

by JJinPA on Nov 23, 2008 4:45 PM EST reply actions

No comment on the QB in the press conference...

Who the hell is going to start? Way to go, Andy. You’ve just screwed the pooch.

kolb

kolb looks like a douche bag

Hmm

I think Kolb is at least saying the right things.

by ajay on Nov 23, 2008 4:56 PM EST reply actions

Reid is bad and cowardly

In the post game press conference, Reid said he hasn’t talked to McNabb yet. You mean to tell me you let an assistant coach tell your starting QB he is benched!?!?!?!? OMG!!!!!! This guy is worse than I thought at coach. How can you do that? What does that say about Reid as a head coach? What does it say about Reid as a person??

ANDY MUST ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY BE FIRED!

by Baron Dainer Von Tresvant on Nov 23, 2008 5:01 PM EST reply actions

i dnt know about fired

but wow u gatta have more respect for a guy like donovan enough to say your out ANDY is kinda soft

by FLAeagle on Nov 23, 2008 5:05 PM EST up reply actions

No FIRED.

The way Reid had coached the past four years? Then, let’s his assistant coach do the deed? Fired.

by Baron Dainer Von Tresvant on Nov 23, 2008 5:29 PM EST up reply actions

How's this one for cowardice?

Get this…When Andy made the decision prior to the 2nd half to bench McNabb,
he didn’t even have the courtesy to deliver the message himself! He had Marty do it.
