Andy Reid approval rating - Week 12

A little over a week ago we held our first poll to determine Andy Reid's approval rating and only 17% of Eagles fans approved of his job performance and felt the team was headed in the right direction.
Has the tie with Bengals helped? What kind of confidence do fans have as we head down to Baltimore?
Poll ends Sunday

I truly believe many of our problems this year stem from Andy Reid.
a) Coming into the season without a ful back… reminds me of last season when we came into the season with out a PR that costs us a game.
b) PREDICTABLE play calling… Has been going on for quite some time now
c) poor game management (also going on for awhile now)

6th
we are 6th in the league in yards per game and points per game. predictable? maybe. is it working? it seems like it. people started whining like crazy about the playcalling after the giants game when we scored 31 that was unwarranted…you have to hold the defense accountable for giving up 36 points, and no one has been complaining about jim johnson’s schemes. last week was pathetic, i’ll admit that, but i don’t understand how the fans are so down on his schemes and such when only 5 teams in the leagues score more points per game. they have their off days, but the numbers don’t like: the offense is performing better than the defense this season. offense: 6th in ppg and yards per game and 4th in pass yards/game (rush yards who cares, we don’t run the ball)
defense: 8th in points allowed, 7th in yards allowed, 11th in pass yards and rush yards

Well, the fans are down on his scheme not because of what the offense is ranked, but because of our record. Just because we score x amount of points, it does not mean that we are not predictable and and no changes are necessary. Some of it has to do with calling the right plays at the right time, some of it has to do with execution.
In the past, I will argue that we were just as predictable, but since we were able to execute, it did not matter. Michael Jordan’s game in his prime was predictable, but it did not matter because no one could stop him. In his latter years, when he lost some of the athletic ability that allowed him to drive to the basket at will, he had to adapt his game, and developed a deadly fade away jumper.
This is why even though it is the players who are not executing, I still put the onus on Reid. If they are not able to execute the current scheme effectively, then the scheme needs to be adjusted. If the other teams defensive players are coming out and saying how they knew exactly what was coming, then something needs to be adjusted. Westy needs the ball, period. If he is hurt, then were is Buck? etc, etc.
I still have some faith in Reid, he has proven he smart guy when it comes to running a successful NFL team. However, he has never had to adjust what he does, as his plan basically worked right out of the box. So far, I am not impressed with his adaptability.

you have some good points, but is his scheme really not working? a couple games we’ve been held in check, but if we are scoring so much, isn’t it on the defense to make sure the other team doesn’t score more?
the offense has scored…
38 win
37 loss
15 win
20 loss
17 loss
40 win
27 win
26 win
36 loss
13 tie
the offense has scored under 26 points only four times this year. 2 games which they scored over 30, they lost. yet the defense isn’t getting any flack for it. yes, they’ve saved us a few times this year, but they’ve also killed us. does anyone remember back in 2001 when our defense held teams to under 20 (i think) for the entire season until the nfc championship when we lost to the rams. We have enough talent to pull off that again, looking at our roster, but instead they’ve given up more than 20 five times already. sure the offense has not been completely up to par every game, but it seems silly everyone is calling for reids head without looking at how many points his team has had to put up to win. with the talent on our defense, 20 should be enough almost every game.

The problem is that they seem to trade weeks where they show up. The defense will play great, like on Sunday and the offense won’t show up. Then the offense will play great, like against Dallas and the defense doesn’t show up.

the fact is b4 the fourth quarter Reids calling is decent…but then the fourth quarter starts and the playcalling goes down the toilet…its funny one week when we needa play (giants game) we take it out of McNabbs hands on 2 straight plays…in the next week he wont take it out of his hands for 60 plays

Our offense AND our defense AND our special teams are all, statistically speaking, performing very well. We’ve still lost 4 games by a total of 20 points and tied against a one win team.

The only stats that really matter are W’s. If I can call what play it’s going to be, imagine how easy it is for someone in our division who reviews game tapes all day.

not a mediocre team
this is an underperforming team. the team in 2006 was underperforming, and they came out of it. this team will too. some sort of support from the fans besides support for heads to roll would probably be appreciated.
what was it like in 2006? was it the fire reid express? then we go on a roll and make the playoffs and everyone is off his back. I don’t deny that i’m displeased right now with how the season is going, but we all know andy knows how to turn it around and run a successful football team. He’s done it before, he’ll do it again.

Hmm
Andy’s “right track, wrong track” is worse than the country’s currently. I voted no but I don’t know if I agree with that.

our offensive stats are inflated by all of our big plays. as great as they are, they seem to be the only way for us to move the ball. the offense has trouble sustaining drives and much like the defense, doesnt come up with the big plays on 3rd down. sure its exciting to see the 30-40 yard pass plays but its not good that we have to rely on them to move the ball.
I was pleased to see the news that Reid finally laid into this team. it seems as if the staff has finally realized that something isnt right with this team. you know what they say, the first step to fixing a problem is admitting you have one. sunday will go a long way to show whether or not this team has it in them to make a run

offensive stats are overrated…only thing i care to see are 3rd down conversions and red zone TD %. same as in baseball when RBI with 2 outs. these are the true stats that will determine the season. Drew Brees got amazing stats too but what about the Saints, where they going this year?? Seems to me that Eagles dont get in done in crunch time when the other team boggles down.
