I’m glad to see so many players and former players coming to his defense. It’s true, we are spoiled. Truth is he’s not going to be around forever and the guy that replaces him, whoever it may be, probably won’t be as good and we may not have a QB as good as him for 5, 10, 20 or, Roger Goodell forbid, more years.

Also in this clip Rod Woodson says he didn’t know the OT rule when he was playing.

While I agree that we fans shouldn’t be crucifying McNabb for underperforming (because he isn’t), It’s a real travesty that players’ lack of knowledge about the game has become acceptable around the league and in the national media. Football is their JOB for Christ’s sake – these guys make small fortunes from playing the game. I do not think we Eagles fans are “fickle” for expecting the leader of our offense to have a firm grasp on the intricacies of his job, WHICH HE’S HAD FOR 10 YEARS NOW!
Donovan has been put in a position for failure by this coaching staff, so I find it hard to put the blame on him. Without a running game, or AT LEAST the threat of one, no quarterback will succeed in this league.
But seriously, there is no f’n way Rod Woodson really believes McNabb is one of the best EVER, is there?!?

He's a dumb ass too
Mc Nabb and Reid’s shelf life has expired.
You fans listen to these network talking heads and believe everything they say.
we live this bullshit of a team all year.
i think we speak intelligently about the problems this team/organization has.
the fish stinks from the head. lenny and squiggy and the gold standard decree speaks volumes of their inability to build a top notch team/organization.
by the way, what the fuck does heckert di here?

anyone who has ever picked up the sticks and played madden would know that rule. Mcnabb was one the cover of the game and didnt know it. Thats not excusable. I am not blaming the fact that they tied due to that rule though. Andy should have went for it on 4th and 1. That was the worst call ive ever seen in my life.

I LOVE McNabb
DONOVAN IS THE MAN
ANYONE who said we should put Kolb in and that Mcnabb sucks and all that nonsense this post is for you….. STOP Donovan isnt the problem…you are…..and the more you talk about Kolb the more likely Mcnabb is to walk right out of town and leave us with a weak ass QB with a weak ass arm….
STOP HATING on Mcnabb hes one of the leagues best…Hate on ANDY REID for completely neglecting the running game and all of its value for protecting a QB and keeping a defense on their heels

Yes. Because he clearly is not to blame for the fact that he constantly fires lasers into the ground five yards in front of the WRs or over throws them wildly. We shouldn’t blame him for his poor play when he can’t complete a pass until the second quarter (even though we pretty much pass on every down in the first quarter). I’m not saying Andy’s playcalling isn’t a problem as well, but you need to give your kneepads a rest, and at least be open to the possibility that McNabb isn’t exactly the same quarterback he was 5 years ago either.

Hey man, he's a star
He can do no wrong. When he throws short passes, it’s the receiver’s fault.
This post brought to you by sarcasm.

These two guys are straight up morons
To be honest, and perhaps I’m simply out of it a little bit, it seems to me this is more of a media controversy than a fan controversy. I mean, certainly Donovan should have known the rule considering how much money he makes playing this game, but I don’t think his knowledge would have changed the outcome. If anything, Andy Reid should be and in my mind IS being blamed the most for this travesty of a game. It just seems these two NFL network guys are falling into the trap of blaming the philly fan when it is the idiotic sports media itself that is attempting to turn this minor issue into something much larger. If anything, this sports media should be criticized.

you know what they say, the backup quartrback is the most popular player on every team.
yeah McNabb misses some throws, so what. with the exception of the cincy game he throws less interceptions than just about anyone. every QB makes bad throws, when other qb’s make bad throws they often end up in the arms of opposing defenders. when McNabb makes bad throws they end up falling harmlessly to the turf.
people talk about his slow starts in atlanta and seattle, but are we forgetting that by the end of those games he looked almost unstoppable and completed nearly every pass he threw?

Hmm...
I think they are right; there’s no reason to criticize McNabb, who’s having a damn good year. Yes he’s struggling, but ask anyone to throw 60 times and that could be the case.
Criticizing Andy Reid, however, is another matter…

Well
Look at his stats for the year: 2711 yards, 59.4% completion percentage, 7.10 yards per attempt, 14TDs and 8 INTs.
Those aren’t “good” numbers? You don’t think he could do even better with a real running game and better play calling?

his numbers might be decent but look at how he’s played i the clutch…i nthe Dallas game he fumbled the ball that cost us the game, Bears game he couldnt et going, Giants game he threw 2 picx, should of been 3 one was called back…, in the Bangays game he threw 3 pics- to one TD he has been notorious this year for slow starts…id rather have a clutch QB than one with good #s…dont get me wrong i love McNabb but he just isnt at his best this year

I grabbed this womans ass at work today ...
and just said “I didn’t know it was a rule that I couldn’t do that” got off scott free under the Donovan McNabb clause.
Seriously though I’m pretty tired of hearing about this … McNabb has played better and he has played worse I’m not ready to give up on him because after all he has won A LOT for this team and this city and I thank him for the good times.

Yes we all need to just shut up. What are we thinking expecting our quarterback to act like he’s upset after he makes a mistake/suffers a loss? Why whould be possibly be upset when our coaches make the same mistakes week after week after week and show no signs of actually changing their game plan? What are we thinking wanting to win and being upset when we loose? Don’t you guys know that we should be happy since we can field a decently competitive team every year and probably get to .500? We most definitely shouldn’t try to hurt our players feelings by calling them on their bull shit. What’s that Donovan? You can’t complete a pass in your first 10 attempts each game? You don’t know the rules of the game? We lost 4 games this season by less than 7 points? It’s okay! Don’t worry about! We’re just glad that you’re not beating yourself up over it! If we win, we win… If we don’t, we don’t. And Andy, please don’t go out of your way to develop a new strategy; one that may actually involve some running as well. You just “keep firing” out there and let’s just hope things work out a little better next week! We’ll win one of these close games yet, won’t we fellas! Huzzah!!!
hopes you’re picking up the sarcasm

Jamie Dukes needs to remember something before he tries to state his case...
Sure Peyton Manning has always had Harrison and other talented players but he needs to remember that Tom Brady became a hall of fame QB and won 3 superbowls when he had hardly any talent around him. It wasn’t until last year that he had the likes of Welker and Moss lining up with him and you all saw what he did. McNabb is a solid QB but he may need to move on. It seems like Philly gets to him.
peace.
