Bench McNabb? Nonsense.

The loss hurts. I would call it a tie, but it might as well be a loss.
McNabb was HORRIFIC today. His balls flew all over the place.  3 interceptions and a fumble? No excuse.

But let's be real. Benching McNabb in favor of Kolb is a bonehead move.

McNabb RARELY has games like today. Rarely.

Did he get any help from his running game? No
Did he get any help with all the drops? No

I'm so tired of Eagles nation calling for McNabb's head. It's so old and played out.

He is the greatest quarterback the Eagles have ever had.

Fact.

And for us to just abandon him constantly is pathetic. We were calling for Feeley, Detmer, Garcia, Kolb...the list goes on and on.

Ridiculous.

McNabb has 4 or 5 years left in the tank. At least.

Warner's completing 70% of his passes and has 300 yard games all the time.

You know why? Larry Fitzgerald. Anquan Boldin. Steve Breaston.

You know why he was so successful in St. Louis? Issac Bruce. Torry Holt. Ricky Proehl. Marshall Faulk

Let's see what Warner, Manning and all the greats would do in 10 years with Charles Johnson, Torrance Small, James Thrash, Todd Pinkston, Na Brown, Billy McMullen.

Except for 2004, he's had little support on the field.

And you know what? He's had little support, if any, off the field as well.

Way to go Philadelphia.

Benching McNabb wouldn't change anything

If the offense is still 75/25 pass/run no QB is going to be successful. Not Kevin Kolb, not Tom Brady. It doesn’t excuse the way McNabb played today… but it’s a fact.

by JasonB on Nov 16, 2008 9:59 PM EST   0 recs

McNabb was so wild today, that I might have considered benching him. The problem (for Andy) could be that, with Kolb as the backup instead of Feeley, is what that means for the future.

You can put Feeley in and McNabb is still the starter, and the QB controversy is relatively minor — McNabb is having a very good season — just having a bad game…you put Kolb in and it just seems more…well, permanent.

I think the only way we see Kolb start this year is if somebody decides that the McNabb era is over…just an opinion.

This was the worst I’ve seen McNabb since the 2006 game against Tampa.

I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.

on another note

The Eagles have to win out. Period.

You don’t need to bench your starting QB if he’s having a bad game… but at the least you have to maybe try to rely on the run a bit more. Anything is better than “Just keep firing”

Jason, I agree.

Did anybody watch Marion Barber dominate the final 6 minutes or so of the game?

I don’t think people in Philly understand how valuable it is to be able to give the ball to your running back like 6 times in a row and move the chains.

It was unbelievable. They kept giving MBIII the ball. Handoff. Sweep. Screen pass.

He was picking up 4 yards, 8 yards, 12 yards, 2 yards, 7 yards…he just kept pounding.

Westbrook? He can’t do that?

You know how much easier that makes it for a team to move the ball? McNabb had to throw the ball 60 times for crying out loud. Ridiculous against such a sub par team. He threw 57 times in the Super Bowl.

You know ESPN classics “Top 5 Reasons you can’t blame” show? If there’s ever an episode of “Top 5 Reasons you can’t blame McNabb the Eagles didn’t win the Super Bowl”….either #1 or #2 will be the LACK of RUNNING GAME. What did Westbrook have in that game, 45 yards on 15 carries?

Either #5 has to run or they need to play Buck more, something needs to be done for that running game.

amazing post

there is howevey 2 thing i should add.

he tried way way way too hard to force throws to LJ too much. Mybe benching LJ would fix some of these INTs

maybe siting im for thet fourth Quater would help. if we loss then well what doesnt kill you makes you stronger and if we win it puts now some fire up Mcnabbs ass.

by no means do you sit McNabb perminitly but you do consider siting someone on a bad day. and this was a bad day…

i just simply cant blame McNab, since 2002 be have been begging for a big time reciever and except for 04 we didnt get one, and you kno what happened in 2004…we went to the Super Bowl, so i see it as get McNabb some help with his recievers and he will thrive and so will the Eagles…plus Fire Reid

Why Can't Us

It’s not Mc Nabbs fault. Sure he sucked yesterday.
I put all this on Reid and his lousy GM traits and brain dead coaching.
Bench Andy!!

This is very very true
You can put Feeley in and McNabb is still the starter, and the QB controversy is relatively minor — McNabb is having a very good season — just having a bad game…you put Kolb in and it just seems more…well, permanent.

And its the reason that I dont kolb will start as long as 5 wears Eagle green. Nor should he in my opinion. The way this town is, the last thing we want is a QB controversy..

Billy Penn who?

where is our loyalty

Philly fans, especially Eagles fans, are the best in the world. We curse our team, we always point out every little thing wrong because there’s a super bowl void we want to fill more than anything in the world.

we’re loyal – but we hold people accountable.

And I think sometimes, we take it too far and start to demonize players for no good reason.

McNabb is a class act. In a league of me-first celebrations and off the field incidents, McNabb is a shining example of what we should all want our kids to be: intelligent, classy, and humble.

sure, question his football iq, question his decision-making, question his accuracy at times…but don’t run the guy out of town.

And that’s what’s been happening for a while now…ashley fox of the inquirer thinks she can go down as the one that predicted his demise…so she put her two sense in…

Newsflash: McNabb goes? So does our long-term success. If you want to say, we haven’t been successful because we haven’t won a Super Bowl, that’s fine. I’m not going to fault you.

But I’ll take McNabb’s “success” in the last 10 years over the uncertainty and almost near guarantee of failure over the next 5 years with Kolb under center…every day of the week.\

So Philly…I implore you to GET BEHIND YOUR QB.

  1. or die.

Super Bowl or bust.

Philly stand up.

i think they should give mcnabb three more games then bench him. at this rate they’ll be out of the playoff race at that point so it’ll be a lot less painful for everyone.

by sixrfan on Nov 17, 2008 8:53 PM EST   0 recs

agreed

if Kolb came in and threw for half the TD’s and yards McNabb will likely throw this year it would be considered a huge surprise. I hope Kolb eventually turns out to be good but theres a reason he wasn’t picked until the 2nd round.

This isn’t the Big 12 you can’t line up in Shot gun and chuck the ball 60 times a game and expect it to be effective. as bad as McNabb played, do you really think he would have thrown three picks if he threw only 30 passes? asking your struggling quarterback to throw 60 passes is like leaving in a starting pitcher whos given up 10 runs

Reid needs to hand the play calling duties over to Moorwhinheg. not that the offensive coordinator is innocent in this mess but it worked in 2006. Reid just looks lost out there. he simply can’t be asked to manage a game and call plays at the same time, as hes simply looked incapable of both this season.

McNabb is a decent quarterback when he has to carry the offense, and an MVP caliber quarterback when he has a supporting cast to work with. we have the talent on offense to support McNabb, yet Reid continues to ask McNabb to carry the offense
