wow nice job posting the same stuff twice i wish i could be as educated and witty as you are to think on the fly like that. you are truly an office and a gentlemen. i am forever lessened as a man to your superior intelligence….?

by NickPampani on Nov 10, 2008 5:39 PM EST up reply actions

Really?

Ok i will admit that that was a very poor game for andy. wrong calls at wrong times. the biggest question i have was when he challenged back to back plays that Both failed…. that was just messed up. I am an andy reid girl. so here is my question who could come in and do a better job. at this point i dont think any one could.

by jambam on Nov 10, 2008 4:24 PM EST reply actions

first challenge

was desparation…but challenging gets you nowhere if it’s stupid. that was one we should not have challenged. second one was a good challenge. that was close, and definately worth looking at.

andy needs to decide what kind of coach he is…if he’s gonna throw the ball all game, throw the ball when the game is on the line. if we’re gonna base our team on a strong defense, then make sure our defense can stop anyone…even if they have a good WR corps. right now our team is based on a passing game, but when it mattered most last night, we ran it and failed (also, no one ever blocks…). if we’re going to try to have a defense that can stop anyone, we need to start drafting like it. we seem to base our defense on short fast guys in the box and hard hitters in the secondary, but our short fast guys got mauled last night, especially off the edge, and our secondary may hit hard, but i’d rather no hard hitting and just covering the WR more.

i personally think andy is a good head coach, but he shouldn’t be calling the plays. childress left in 2005, and we replaced him with marty “i’m a frickin idiot” mornhinweg. that man is the only person to ever chose to kick off in a sudden death overtime. we need a stronger offensive coordinator and have andy relegate most, if not all, of the offensive coordinating to him.

but

it often brings a new mindset to the players, who may be more willing to try it, and thus execute better

by Manoovi on Nov 10, 2008 6:33 PM EST up reply actions

they're paid way too much

not to try as hard as they can. if they’re not performing to the best of their ability, or at least trying to, they can go to another team. they all get paid too much for playing a game, especially if they’re not giving it their all

by eagleyosh on Nov 10, 2008 7:35 PM EST up reply actions

i agree yosh.

even the guys on the lions should be playing their asses off every game.

by GreenInBaltimore on Nov 10, 2008 7:40 PM EST up reply actions

lol

i have arued this in many different places over the past 2 weeks and my conclutin is most of them dont get paid too much. first off a profestional franchise has huge utilitarian benifits to the comuntity as a whole. they bring alot of revinue and money to a city such as denver where there might ot have been. with the extra revinue to the city the city then can afford better roads hospitals of other infrastrctual bennifts causing peoples lives to often be better.

now onto the players. the average nfl career lasts about 8 years depending on the possition and alotof these guys have permanit damage to their bodies afterwards. and more often then not NFL players die about 20 years earlyer then the average person. they sacrafice alot to play this “game” for just a short time. meanwhile while they are with a team they have strict guidlings and rules that limits what they can do, such as curfue and not being allowed to ride motorcycles.

all in all these guys die 20 years earlyer and can barly walk by the time they are 40 just so they can play football for 8 maybe 10 years.

baseball and basketball players get paid way too much.

by NickPampani on Nov 10, 2008 7:47 PM EST up reply actions

you know Joe is correct we need to change what we are doing. there are only 2 teams that has a better point differential then us, and 3 that have more TD then us. we are a discraseful franchise and need to completely rework. starting from scratch is what we need to do because obviously a winning record and loosing all our games by a total 19 points throughout 4 games. i cant stand having the 3rd ranked offence in terms of scoring and 7th in YPG. i cant stand it, for now on i renounce py eagles fanship until this team is completely ran into the ground.

by NickPampani on Nov 10, 2008 6:45 PM EST up reply actions

Nick, come on man. You may not want to fire Reid, but don’t act like you’re satisfied with how the season is going. There’s room for discussion here.

0-3 in the division, dude. Last place 3 of the last 4 seasons. Stupid mistakes (and the same weaknesses over and over) costing us games.

There’s got to be a funnier “Fire Andy Reid” shirt out there than this, though.

I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.

by BrianS on Nov 10, 2008 6:54 PM EST up reply actions

Brian

i know you and i know all your arguments and you are a man who really can pring some thought and facts to the table. i am not completely happy but then again the colts are having a much worse season in a worse devition in the lesser confrance with an older QB and no one is saying lets fire tony. if you look at our losses i feel it was mostly due to not getting push on the front line. last year we were better then this in short yardage situations it cant all be because of andy reid and ony 19 points throughout 4 losses is really nothing.

am i happy no, but andy is still one of the tope 3 or 4 coaches in the league.

by the way im just pissed at how these peple come in all of the suddden after a loss and dont even look at the game before calling for andys head.

i thought that forward pass play shouldnt of been over tured because it was inconclusive or atleast it should of been. it was just as close as tha jacobes fumble. really this game was lost on 2 judgement calls going the wrong way. not andy or Mcnabb or westbrook or the D who could stop the giants all day.

thank you brian you are a true eagles fan

by NickPampani on Nov 10, 2008 7:06 PM EST up reply actions

Nick you make a lot of good points,

the one about the colts really got my thinking, you’re right man its too early to give up we shouldn’t be calling for our coaches’ heads

thanks man, you should make a thread

by Manoovi on Nov 10, 2008 7:30 PM EST up reply actions

Dont fire Andy....

I also think that things need to change. Change starts at the top. I am not calling for Andy’s head, but that doesnt mean that I dont want Andy to change. We’ve been a “winning” team for a long time. Andy made that happen. We’ve also lost several close games due to poor playcalls. Andy also made that happen! I think Andy is very “Donovan.” Plays at a very high level, most of the time….and the inconsistencies often show up at the wrong time. I think that we know Andy to pick one game plan, and stick to it. Live by it, and die by it. We pass, pass, pass, and then bank on the run to save us when crunch time hits. I dont dislike Andy as our coach, I dislike when Andy calls plays as if he were someone else. Its like he’s trying to play headgames and catch them off guard with the run! Be yourself.
I will say this….i really hope that Andy gets this ship on course. I want him here. We have a fun team, (that was primarily homegrown by Andy) and i hate the idea of him being gone. I dont expect us to win every game from here on out, but if we miss the playoffs, then i cant say that i’ll be surprised if Mr Reid is done….

by GreenInBaltimore on Nov 10, 2008 7:35 PM EST up reply actions

Sigh...

…I don’t agree with the vehemence of this post but I think that it’s getting tougher and tougher to defend Andy. I read these threads and I see so many of you guys seemingly terrified to revert to the pre-Andy days. That’s understandable. Those days sucked. But sayings things were worse before he got here is not an argument for keeping him. Why are we all so afraid to accept that maybe someone else could do a better job here at this juncture? What is going to change in the future with Andy?

by ajay on Nov 10, 2008 9:11 PM EST reply actions

no but i see the consistant failure rate of new coaches and having one come in to the tougghest devistion is asking them to climb everest without oxegen. Andy is a proven coach and like i said is one of the top 3 or 4 coaches in the league right now. if we get a new coach now we chould expect 2 to 3 loosing seasons or atleast 2 to 3 seasons with no playoffs

by NickPampani on Nov 10, 2008 9:42 PM EST up reply actions

See John Harbarugh of the Ravens, Jim Zorn of the Redskins and Smith of the Falcons. Not too shabby for rookie coaches.

by Joe_D on Nov 10, 2008 9:43 PM EST up reply actions

see almost every raiders and falcons coaches of the last 3 or 4 years. look and whats his name who broght the absolute perfect fun and gun offence. look at al the great herm edwars did when he went to the jets and wade phillis first term as a head coach. its a great idea to look at the exception to the rule and that is something that i would expect someone of your Intelligence to do but in the real world there is ony 32 head coaches that are in the leage and only 12 are successful every year. dumb ass

by NickPampani on Nov 10, 2008 9:49 PM EST up reply actions

nick...

you said andy is a top 3 or 4 coach. are you talking this year, or career?

by GreenInBaltimore on Nov 10, 2008 9:54 PM EST up reply actions

hounestly last 5 and or of all cureent head coaches. however if you were to rank the coaches this year how would you put them.

here is my list right now…
Coughlen
Fisher
Bellichec(although i hate him he has done alot with injuries)
Andy
Tony Dungy
Jim Zorn (he would be higher but it is still early in his career)

and so on….

i feel with records and looking at what we knbow they can do that is fair.

by NickPampani on Nov 10, 2008 10:02 PM EST up reply actions

is it really that hard to take a superbowl team and make them look good. he is probably top 15 but i dont know where. look at ray roades he had a great team won coach of the year and then drove us into the ground.

by NickPampani on Nov 10, 2008 11:06 PM EST up reply actions

NFL is about now...

Think how many times we’ve put that comment out there when enemies toss around the “how many superbowls have you won?” I dont know that i agree with your coaching lineup. Being fourth in our own division speaks loudly in the “now.”
I am a Reid supporter, but he’s not “putting himself in position” to be considered top 4 right now. Certainly he has it in him…..he’s been there in recent years. But right now?? I think he has some work to do.

by GreenInBaltimore on Nov 10, 2008 11:29 PM EST up reply actions

your right about thr right now part but right now means probably 2 or 3 years consigering a coach does alot more then just coach games. that is why i place him 2nd in our devistion, wade phillip has took a good team and let jerry jones take it into a desaster of a franchise. and jim zorn has no past history so i cant judge

by NickPampani on Nov 10, 2008 11:42 PM EST up reply actions

Nick

That’s a good point. But remember, Andy was a relatively unknown QB coach when we brought him here and he’s panned out well over the long-term. I think of it this way:

Option 1: We keep Andy and hope for change
Option 2: We let him go and hope for a better coach

I think Option 2 is probably the better bet because Andy hasn’t/isn’t changing.

by ajay on Nov 10, 2008 10:00 PM EST up reply actions

i say give him a coice leave or revamp you staff. we can keep Jim Johnson and maybe some of his staff but everyone else goes, because its really our offence that is having trouble. if all they can do is 3 and out the d will suffer.

also realize that when any came in dallas wasnt great. the giants had kerry collins and washington didnt even have joe gibbs back so we were really in probably the weakest devistion in football.

by NickPampani on Nov 10, 2008 10:05 PM EST up reply actions

all i know is......

Its audition time now…..we will all forget all of this if we make the playoffs and advance at all.

by GreenInBaltimore on Nov 10, 2008 10:08 PM EST up reply actions

and I would expect someone with your intelligence to base success off of if they make the playoffs or not . However if a rookie team takes a 2-14 team an 8-8 team that is success.. so again, you lose

by Joe_D on Nov 10, 2008 10:21 PM EST up reply actions

no that just means one coach is better than the other ray roades had winning seasons but i say he was far from successful. with your logic you are saying that jim zorn is a better coach then joe gibbs then right? no he is just doing more with the team handed to him.

just because one coach is better then an other that doesnt mean he is successful.

so ha you lose. (i didnt even know this was a game i just felt i needed to respond to stupid remakes by an uneducated dult)

by NickPampani on Nov 10, 2008 10:27 PM EST up reply actions

oh really… is andy reid’s scheme so GREAT is that why TIKI BARBER was CALLLING OUT THE PLAYS IN THE BOOTH!?!?! He’s been retired two years and he was calling the plays out when we were on offense. get a clue retard

by Joe_D on Nov 11, 2008 2:06 PM EST up reply actions

Andy WONT change

Thats the thing. HE WONT make adjustments to the team. We will never see a big NT, a big RB to pound the rock, nor will see ever see a balanced running game. He is TERRIBLE with time management and that hasn’t changed either. I like this guy as a GM, i do NOT like his strategies.. passing 90% of the time works in madden not in real life.

by Joe_D on Nov 10, 2008 9:41 PM EST reply actions

one last comment

we have been losing close games for the past two years now… that has to be put on andy’s shoulders

by Joe_D on Nov 10, 2008 9:42 PM EST reply actions

does anyone understand the west coast offense?

give andy a hard time for what youwill, but stop giving him a hard time for not having a balanced attack. his offensive philosophy is a West coast offense…you throw early, and you throw often. why would you run the ball 50% of the time if your offensive philosophy dictates you pass at least 60% of the time?

by eagleyosh on Nov 10, 2008 10:44 PM EST reply actions

+1

also everyone that just simply calls for a 50/50 attack fails to realize that our personnel doesn’t allow for it… it just doesn’t. our o-line is set up to keep 5 off of his back all day, they are not a very good run blocking line. when they run block well, it’s because we’ve already been throwing the ball around and the D is already on their heals. you can’t just start doing something totally foreign and expect it to work.

this is the reverse of the problem dallas is having right now. they have a huge power running o-line that is now being asked to spread out a bit on the line and constantly pass protect because garrett is running a spread type package. they are simply to old and too slow to do so and are getting beat off the line.

you can’t just up and change everything on a whim.

i think that things need to change, but it might be more of getting a different OC and letting him call the plays. honestly, at this point, what good would it be to fire andy? for everyone that wants to fire andy and move completely away from the WC offense, i hope you’re ready for 2 or 3 years of horrid play… it seems that everyone has a hard-on for Cowher… and yes he’s a good coach, but if we get him, we’ve got to get rid of the whole O-Line, bring in a bigger RB, can McNabb, trade/cut most of the WRs because none of them fit his scheme… at all.

World F*ckin' Champions, indeed...
