I mean this sincerely — at this point, putting Greg Lewis on the field for anything other than special teams is a fire-able offense.
Who routinely plays their fifth wide receiver? It makes no sense to me.
There were more reasons we lost today than Lewis, but that doesn’t change the fact that he routinely hurts this offense when he’s counted on to make a play.
This is almost a fortunate accident, but I misprogrammed by DVR today and recorded the Ravens game instead. Oops. I would really like someone to tell me how many offensive plays Lewis was in the game for versus Jackson, versus Baskett, and versus Avant. He brings nothing to the table those guys can’t bring. I’m really at a loss.

Actually i have to flat out disagree with that
Im by no means a Lewis fan…
But he’s actually been a GREAT position receiver for us over the years.
he did a heck of a lot more than Basket today btw
Big feet and all

He had one catch today.
The first time he breaks a tackle in the NFL we should all get together for a party.
He gets bullied along the sidelines by anyone who is smart enough to play him tight. There is literally nothing about him physically that gives him an advantage. He doesn’t get open deep.
Baskett, Avant and especially Jackson should been on the field in every situation where Lewis might be. I understand Jackson is a rookie and might not know the entire playbook yet. But Baskett and Avant are both reportedly smart players and must know every spot. They aren’t going to go to any Pro Bowls, but at least they bring some kind of NFL level talent to the game.

And can you think of any other team that plays their fifth best receiver as much as the Eagles do?

It’s like Andy gets guys like Lewis, Booker, and Hunt involved in the offense just so this team has a bigger degree of difficulty.

And by that I mean obtaining grossly undersized players (Lewis, Booker, Jackson), and experimenting with another player out of his position so he is then undersized (Hunt).

Greg Lewis is a TERRIBLE player
He lost us the Green Bay game last year and he only does well against rotten secondaries, aka, the Rams, the Lions, etc., etc., other wise he is invisible. He is a marginal special teams player at best and a fifth wide receiver on a team not known for its wide outs—what does that tell you?
I don’t know what pictures he has of Andy but they must be something both immoral and illegal for him to still be on this team—and take Reggie (No, I’m not a wide receiver but I play one in the West Coast offense) Brown with you to the Todd Pinskton—Freddie Mitchell home for Andy Reid’s Home of Bad Wide Receivers.

Reggie Brown is not a bad WR please look up his stats so you can see he is actually a good option.

Ahem!
Actually if you want to peg the GB loss on one player it needs to be on JR Reid. The dude DOVE into a pile of guys to try to faircatch a punt.

he just needs to do a better job of putting the players in the right ....
fuck that he got soft protecting an early lead … I’m sick and tired of this shit. I watched the game today out with some friends none of which are birds fans. Every single one of them said … “welp looks like the eagles are going to protect mode they get a lead and stop being aggressive” and what do they do … start playing it safe.

I’m not gonna jump on the fire Andy Reid bandwagon yet but goddammit… we’re losing games we shouldn’t be losing and we can’t afford to lose. I wanna know a few things though.
#1: Why the fuck can’t we score in the red zone? We hit this gigantic brick wall when we get anywhere near the red zone and we make opposing defenses look amazing.
#2: Why do TEs tear us apart?
#3: When are the Eagles going to start a season with… I don’t know… a winning goddamned record? I’m sick of hating the Eagles for half a season and watching them have to play catch up.

good questions y...here are my ansers...
1. No running game…you can get away without a running game when you have a 30-50 yard field…you can’t when you only have a 10-30 yard field—there is just no where for the defense to go.
2. We need better coverage from the LB but to be fair I think that’s a common problem around the NFL and i think a more conisistent pass rush would help.
3. When we have a coach who can one, will design his plan around the team and not the other way around and two, we have a good game day coach who can actually make changes to the game plan during the game! i.e. after we get rid of Big Dead, I mean Red.

3. +1 (-0.5 I don’t think firing Andy will change anything at this point in time)

Stopping the musical chair shit with the receivers would be a great place to start. It’s almost like he out coaches himself by using all of those BS packages instead of just going with his best players. If none of them are able to get into a groove and be out there for the whole game how in the hell are they supposed to get the timing and shit straight with McNabb.

This is getting ridiculous! I’ve been an Eagles fan now for over 40 years and I used to say that I’d be happy if the Birds were just in the hunt every year instead of the bottom dwellers they used to be. But after 10 years of being in the hunt and never winning it all, I was wrong. I’d take 5 years of futility if they could finally bring home a ring! After Indy won the Super Bowl, I heard a Colts fan say he was good for ten years now. Amen. I would be too. And now, Andy has lost it when it comes to game-planning. Even being in the hunt could be a pipe dream. It’s a shame, because we have the horses to get it done. Thank God for the Phillies! At least one team in Philly has some heart and knows how to win.

I’m not going to throw Reid under the bus just yet. This wide out round table shit is getting crazy and with the lack of depth we have there if you rotate them how can you find any timing. Plus Akers is shit out side 30 yards and needs to go.
Why play Dallas hard if you can't beat Da' bears.

to pretty much everything I’ve read. Ive stood up for Reid when others I know were putting him down. But thats getting really really hard to do. And maybe Im wrong here, but did Johnson back off the blitz or was Washingtons line that good? I know towards the end they were pushing us around but were they really that dominant? And Akers!?

Is probably looking like paradise to 5 right now. I’m sure he’ll fit in nicely there when he wants to get out of this black hole.
Andy Reid needs to take a Cowher-esque break from football. Or coach BYU. Or something. Anything but call plays for the Birds.

Didn’t he relinquish playcalling last Year? I think Mornhinweg was calling the shots during the second half of the season.

Jason — From Bowen, today:
Nobody ever gave a coherent explanation of exactly what happened, but apparently the call from the bench was a running play to the right. The tight end, apparently L.J. Smith, lined up on the left, making that the strong side. McNabb was distracted by the play clock, which erroneously was ticking down to zero as he approached the line, but as McNabb started to signal for time, Westbrook pointed to the clock resetting, and McNabb went back to calling signals. Then, noting the wrong alignment, McNabb tried to audible to a Westbrook run, to the left side. By the time the ball was finally snapped, the Redskins seemed pretty darned ready, and the blockers seemed confused. Westbrook was swarmed for a 3-yard loss.

I also think it was Reid last year. Marty called the plays when his former pupil, Garcia, was the QB. Reid’s dismal play-calling only accentuates the flaws of his philosophy: “It’s not the player, it’s the system. You can plug anyone in, and they can have success.” If that is the case, a switch right now to Mornhigweg/Kolb could easily have us at 4-6 when we meet the Giants.

Good comments there Jason
Did you catch the delusion comments by McNabb after the game about how he knows the Eagles are a better team then the Redskins? Didinger did a great job of shooting that down on the Eagles Post Game Live with a few questions and the answer to all of them was the Redskins:
Who went the playoffs last year?
Who beat Dallas in Dallas this year?
Who had a three (and now a four game) winning streak coming into this game?
If the Eagles are so good then how come we can’t score from first and goal? If the Eagles are so good how come we make every team look good against us?
