Best Eagles Games Ever???

Hey Guys,

I'm new to the site but love what I see so far and can't wait to get more involved.

A question for you though- If you were to think back over the past 30 years or so of Eagles football, which individual games stick out most in your minds?  Things like huge comebacks, miraculous wins, crazy things that happened in the stands, SuperBowls, conference championships,  blunder type games (Leon Lett type things)?  Maybe even the fireworks in the upper deck game??

Thanks guys!!  Just trying to get some insight into what makes the Birds so special to so many of us!!

Eagles 49, Cowboys 21 – 2004

Great Thread

This is a really good question. I alway thought it would be great to come up with a list about the Greatest Games ever played at the Vet.

I loved the fireworks game. The Santa Claus game. Michael Irvin game…

Michael Irvin game…

that’s dissapointing…i don’t understand any reason to be happy at a career ending injury, even if the guy was a jackass

by eagleyosh on Oct 30, 2008 9:06 PM EDT up reply actions

clearly what he was implying by saying the “michael irvin game” and not “andy’s first win” game…
i guess i missed that interpretation.

by eagleyosh on Oct 31, 2008 12:04 AM EDT up reply actions

You’re probably right. I wouldn’t have mentioned that game, but I do have very fond memories of it — just because it was such a big upset and the first win of that season.

C'mon, Andy. I want to riot, too.

Seahawks fan here, but because I've seen many Eagles games....

Any win over Dallas is the correct answer. ;)

Signature? SIGNATURE?! Don't talk about SIGNATURE! I just hope I can write a sentence!

I give a different answer to this every time, I think. But I’ll say the NFC Championship game against the Falcons.

My second choice is probably the Lito Sheppard game from ‘06. I know it’s not postseason, but I just went completely nuts at the end of that.

C'mon, Andy. I want to riot, too.

2004's NFC Championship Win

Sounds cliche, but that’s still the top of the list for me!

As long as I can mentally block out FredEx from the play

That was pretty awesome for a week, but the horrible choke job against Carolina the next week sort of ruined the miracle for me.

C'mon, Andy. I want to riot, too.

yes, and thats exactly why that game is not even in my top 5

That’s why I’m glad TO didn’t play in the 2004 playoffs, in hindsight. The memory of the Falcons game is untarnished by his unholy presence.

Ones of recent memory:

2003 MIAMI monday night game. Freaking awesome.> Freddie Mitchell’s pass to Westbrook was sick.

2005 – Chiefs were up 17 pts on us and we came back and won

2006 – Dallas at home and eagles fan were chanting "OD OD OD " at T.O.

2006 – Dallas X mas day

2006 – Giants games, especially sending them home.

2007 – Beating Dallas at the end of the year

1980

A receiver I’d like to have on this team:
Harold Carmichael
Think we’d throw the fade then?

And why has no one mentioned the Bounty Bowl?
27-0 and the single most dominant defensive performance I’ve ever seen…

by EAGLE_MAN71 on Nov 2, 2008 1:34 AM EDT up reply actions

quick question

do they ever air the body bag game or is it on dvd some where ? i got the dvd philadelphia eagles the complete history- 2 dvd set – i recomend it highly – but it just has snipets of the body bag game – it it just me or does it appear that watching the birth of the birds part of the dvd they barely wore any padding and really thin helmets that would suck

i was about to jump off of wachovia center but one of akers’ kicks smacked me right in the face and knocked me backwards…

thanksgiving 2006?

eagles, cowboys the year after we released T.O. when dawkins intercepted T O in the end zone in one of the most amazing defensive plays ive ever seen. to me that was awesome.

by abains007 on Nov 2, 2008 8:19 PM EST reply actions

does anyone remember 2001?

end of december, 2001 – eagles beat giants 24-21 to capture their first NFC East title since 1988.

FLASHBACK: akers had just hit a field goal with 7 seconds left to put the birds ahead…

the giants had one play from their 20 yard line. barber got the pass and gained like 15 yards and then lateraled to ron dixon who ran ALL THE WAY TO THE eagles 6 yard line before he was tackled by damon moore. (his only big play as an eagle)

and the game and division was ours.
