Do We Need A WR

No.... that is the answer for now. This off season we all called for 4 different receivers in some sort of trade and one through free agency. those players are Boldin, Chad Johnson, Roy Williams, Fitz and Moss. Who did we get.... Desean Jackson.

Lets look at the stats of these players plus Hank Baskett

Catched Yards YPC TD
D-Jax 29 433 14.93103 1
Boldin 27 366 13.55556 5
Fitz 36 546 15.16667 5
Williams 19 255 13.42105 1
Ocho-Cinco 21 273 13 1
Moss 17 274 16.11765 2
Baskett 17 243 14.29412 2

Star-divide

After drafing D-Jax and looking at him compared to the rest it looks like we didnt miss out on much. Yes Boldin and fitz are having better seasons but Jackson is second in yards and third in YPC. and then add in what he has done in his end arounds and in the return game you can even give him that TD against Dallas and he is easily the second bet on that list of Pro Bowl and all receivers.

i like

4 significant digits.

Our receiving corps is decent – our TEs?

Just back from the pub and still tweaking. Thought the birds would find a way to lose.

It's weird

if we rewind a couple months, unless I"m having memory loss none of us thought TE was a big issue. LJ was supposed to be back and healthy, everyone was big on Celek’s potential.

LJ has obviously been very dissapointing, but I think we’ve generally been underutilizing the TE position this year. Maybe this is a reflection of the coaches confidence in them or whatever, or maybe it’s a reflection of their failure to make plays, but I feel like we need to be getting more from the position one way or another.

LJ’s “strength” was as a blocker…anyone else see him ge tlit up 2-3 times on Sunday. We need a Chris Cooley or Witten STAT. I would even love Veron Davis. A good TE is worth one of our #1s.

+1

He just looked good against us… that’s not very challenging

Fitz

Fitz or Boldin would have been a huge upgrade at wr. I like Jackson, but both of those guys are better at this point.

at this point… also take into consideration that if we traded for either one of them, we probably don’t draft jackson… it would basically be a wash…
