Darwin Walker to Bears
I guess that means we don't have to release him. He was sent to the Bears for a 5th round draft choice, so the Bills end up with a 5th instead of a 6th, making the best of a (really) bad situation.
I'm glad that we still have our sixth, it's probably more useful than Darwin would have been -- it's almost like we traded Darwin to the Bears for the right to keep our 6th, and the Bills magically came away with a 5th. In all honesty, I think it's a silly move by the Bears -- Darwin woulda been released soon after, and a 5th is a high price to pay for a mediocre, low-motor, seemingly declining DT. I guess they need depth though, now that we took a key tackle in their rotation. Link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2953545

Sacks
What other D-Tackles with that many or more? The only ones I can think of are Warren Sapp and Rod Coleman.
Darwin's got more than Marcus Stroud, more than John Henderson, more than Shaun Rogers,
Darwin's also forced 5 fumbles and recovered 5.
For comparison as well, Richard Seymour with the Patriots has also had 26.5 sacks since 2002 forced 3 fumbles and recovered 5.
You're focusing way too much on Walker's weaknesses against the run (especially trying to play two gap schemes) and not looking at his strengths against the pass, where he is one of the best. In Chicago's 1 gap scheme, where all the D Tackle needs to do is pick a hole and head for the ball, Walker shoudl thrive.

Plus
Frankly, I think Darwin is a guy whose stats don't tell the whole truth. His sack total was very good last year, but we know he didn't have a good year. We know most of his sacks came in one game last year, Dallas where the team had something like 8 sacks.
I've always said that Darwin is a guy that plays well when others are playing well. He doesn't lift the team up, and he quits when things get rough.
When properly motivated and in the right situation I agree that he's a good player. He may very well flourish in Chicago.
