Scapling best practices

So, I missed out on tickets again.  Oh well, that's what I get for not shelling out the money to get season tickets in '99.

I'm going to the game in Green Bay, which will be awesome, but I hate to not make a single home game.

I guess I've still got a shot at SRO's (hopefully), but if not, I might scalp one.

Any suggestions as to when prices are best -- get 'em now or wait till closer to the game -- or mid July when people aren't thinking about it as much.

Dammit
If I'm paying over 100 bucks, I want a seat.

I was hoping SROs would go on sale later like they did last year as sort of a second chance.

hey...
if you get there ridiculously early and you and a buddy are both pretty fast, is there a good chance you can grab the eagles nest (Under the reggie banner?)

Yes.
Be inside the sovreign tailgate plaza waiting at the gates to the actual stadium when they open, though.

by BrianS on Jun 14, 2007 10:46 AM EDT to parent up   0 recs

do you
have to pay to get inside the tailgate plaza?

And dude trust me, ive been scowering the web for weeks, you WILL NOT find a "seat" for less than about 160... unless you want to go to the last game of the season... where we'll be benching everybody for a super bowl run

Agreed
If you find a seat for under $200... Consider that cheap.

Wow
They went up from last year.  Although maybe my memory's just bad.  I know I could have gotten in the Dallas game for $180, but maybe that was SRO.  I just physically didn't have $180 at the time, either way.

Maybe I'll try to get tickets for them at FedEx field if they haven't sold out already.  It seems like there's always lots of visiting fans there.

I'm distrustful of Ebay (and I never win an auction) but I'll try it.

And yeah, "Every team does it" is a terrible reason for the Eagles to sell so many tickets to Razorgator.  Way to screw one of the most hardcore, loyal fanbases in the NFL guys.  Be the "Gold Standard" and try to make more tickets available to your fans.

no....
your memory is correct! they're a good $30 more across the board this year

ok... so im not from the city
so i know that $$ are different in philly than they are in a rural area 3 hours west... but these ticket prices are ridiculous... seriously i'm really pissed about the whole razor gator thing! If you looked for tickets over the past couple weeks, you probably were shocked by how many tickets these brokers had! Where the hell did they come from? How could they know they would have certain tickets... now they will tell u that they come from season ticket holders, but theres NO way that they all come that way... certain vendors have to be paying somebody off... there, a good conspiracy theory for a thursday morning!

The Eagles make no secret
They sell lots of tickets to places like Razorgator. They defend themselves by saying "every team does it".

So what?

When I say "so what?"
I referring to so what if every team does it. It sucks and the all it does is maker harder/more expensive for your own fans to see the game.

i just think
it sucks thats all... its a good business move though

why
good business?  how is it better business than selling to fans directly instead of razorgater?

by brooksy on Jun 14, 2007 9:20 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

umm
well lets see... I have a feeling that they are selling the tickets to razorgator at more than face value, and then also receive some kind of a kickback as well... but when razor gator can sell tickets to the dallas game at 450 a pop, I think both parties make out quite well

Like they need the money
I'm sure the Eagles and Razorgator are both making money off it... but they're screwing the fans in the process and that's not right.

Do the Eagles, who Forbes valuated as the second most valuable sports franchise in America, really need the extra cash so bad that they need to sell tickets to a scalper before actual fans?

hey just a thought...
not to give away my secrets, but ebay can sometimes be a half decend idea... my suggestion is that you check the newly listed stuff... sometimes people put buy it now prices up that are pretty reasonable... i.e., there were some seahawks tix that were upper endzone seats that sold for 225 for 2... that pretty good

Did they really?
I hadn't seen the Eagles admit selling blocks of ticket to brokers. I thought they were going with the story that season ticket holders supply those guys. It doesn't make sense as a business decision for the Eagles. The team can sell every one of those tickets at face value ten times over and they want to spread the tickets around to fans, not help out brokers.

by Dire Radiant on Jun 14, 2007 11:30 PM EDT   0 recs

No
They fully admit they are "partners" with Razorgator. In fact, in the story I linked to the main site talking about how the tix sold out... the Eagles link to Razorgator and tell you to go there for tickets.

Then you go to the Razorgator site and list the Eagles as one of about 5 teams that they are official partners with. They also literally trademarked the slogan "Buy your Hard-To-Getsm Philadelphia Eagles football tickets today!"

They're hard to get because the team sold them all to you so you can gouge the fans!!

unless...
they sell the tickets to the brokers for more than face value, which im sure they do
