William James, starter? He thinks so

CB Will James was once a very solid starting corner for the Giants, and he want to be a starter once again. So far(and this is painfully early to say), he looks like one.

"I'm a starter. Period," said James, who came into Philadelphia's first minicamp listed as the third corner, behind Pro Bowl-caliber starters Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown.

"I want to be the best cornerback in the league. Period," James said, also indicating that he hasn't had any specific conversations with coaches about the possibility of starting.

"I've told the world," he said. "So they're part of that."

In his post mini camp reports, Gary Cobb called William James the best corner at camp, saying that he blanketed every receiver he was up against.

No one ever questioned William James' talent. It's his health. If he stays healthy, we have one of the top 5 CB groups in the NFL regardless of who starts. If he goes down again, we're pretty thin. Either way, I like his attitude. I like seeing new(or relatively new in his case) guys coming into camp and shaking things up, pushing guys for  jobs. Especially on the defensive side of the ball, which is a unit that clearly needed a fire lit under it last year.

LOVE IT!
The best part of him having that attitude is either way it helps the team. If he's really doing what people say he is, sheldon better get his butt in gear if he still wants to start.

it would be nice
i've never been that enamored with brown, so i'd welcome a new starting corner.

It was a thought...
If we had another really good corner, I think Sheldon has the ability to play free safety. He can cover and he can step up and hit people. Whenever Dawkins decides to retire, I think SHeldon could possibly be the perfect replacement.
