Around SBN: Steve McNair Dead - Former NFL QB Shot and Killed

Tuesday Morning News

In a pretty stunning move, Marty Schottenheimer was fired by the Chargers today. Apparently it was over some clashes with the GM. I understand why they'd fire the guy in principle, however I don't understand why they'd do it now that it's so late and they just lost both of their coordinators. If Dallas was scraping the bottom of the barrel in filling their late coaching vacancy, I can only imagine what the Chargers will come up with. You'd have to guess that guys like Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera and Colts QB coach Caldwell will get an interview.

The Giants cleaned house today cutting Lavar Arrington(boy was that 7 year $49 mil contract a fake!), Veteran LT Luke Pettigout, and former Eagles LB Carlos Emmons. Given the Eagles penchant for bringing back former players, it wouldn't surprise me to see Emmons in camp. That said, he's barely been healthy since he left here. Some are claiming this move was a signal that the Giants will make a serious run at free agent LB Lance Briggs. Briggs, however is unlikely to hit the market. If the Bears don't reach a contract extension with him, they'll likely slap the franchise tag on him.

In other Giants news... it looks like we'll be subjected to Tiki Barber's pseudo intellectual droning on Sunday Night Football next year. Tiki has reportedly already purchased a new word of the day calender for the announcement!

The gossip out
is that the Chargers waited until after the Cowboys hired a coach so Marty wouldn't end up on Dallas.  I won't be surprised to see if someone like Pete Carroll ends up in SD.

As for the Jints....they are just a bunch of dumbasses.  If they are doing this as a 'show' of strength, they deserve everything they get.  Coughlin will have no control at all next year, and the Giants will finish 6-10.

Catch some Strange World Sports. It's an offer you can't refuse!

Tiki has a dream................
"My dream has always been to be on the `Today' show," Barber said.

How many people can say that with a straight face?

Did winning a Super Bowl or world peace crack the top five?

Go Bears
