NFC Pro Bowl Roster - Eagles send 3

Hot off the press from NFL.com

OFFENSE

QB - STARTER Drew Brees. Romo despite making only 8 starts is a reserve... Wow. 5 or 6 good games gets you in the pro bowl. Kinda ridiculous, but it's really an indictment of the QB position in the NFC... If that's the criteria, why not Grossman, Manning, or Vick? Bulger also makes it, he has pro bowl numbers.

RB - Frank Gore starts, Barber, and Jackson. All having good years, still seems like a Westbrook snub. Westbrook has carried his team to a better record than any of these guys. It's possible that none of the pro bowl RBs will be in the playoffs...

TE - Crumpler & Shockey

Center - Matt Birk & Olin Kreutz

Guards - Shaun Andrews & Steve Hutchinson

The "Big Kid" gets a well deserved start in the pro bowl. He's been amazing this year and I expect he'll have a place in Hawaii for many years to come.

Tackles - Jamaal Brown (Saints), Walter Jones, Chris Samuels

Wide receivers - Anquan Boldin, Donald Driver, Torry Holt, Steve Smith

Fullback - Mack Strong

DEFENSE Defensive ends - Aaron Kampman Green Bay Packers, Julius Peppers Carolina Panthers, Will Smith New Orleans Saints

Interior linemen - Tommie Harris Chicago Bears, Kris Jenkins Carolina Panthers, Kevin Williams Minnesota Vikings

Outside linebackers - Lance Briggs Chicago Bears, Julian Peterson, Seattle Seahawks, DeMarcus Ware Dallas Cowboys

Inside linebackers - Lofa Tatupu Seattle Seahawks, Brian Urlacher Chicago Bears

Ha Ha! Antonio Pierce doesn't go again... Waaah!

Cornerbacks - Ronde Barber Tampa Bay Buccaneers, DeAngelo Hall Atlanta Falcons, Lito Sheppard Philadelphia Eagles

Lito is a no brainer here. The former pro bowler has had a stellar season bouncing back from last year's injury.

Strong safeties - Roy Williams Dallas Cowboys, Adrian Wilson Arizona Cardinals

Free safeties - Brian Dawkins Philadelphia Eagles

Duh. No brainer here.

Specialists

Punter Mat McBriar, Dallas Cowboys Placekicker Robbie Gould, Chicago Bears Kick return specialist Devin Hester, Chicago Bears Special teamer Brendon Ayanbadejo, Chicago Bears

So it's 3 Eagles headed to Hawaii Shaun Andrews(1st pro bowl), Lito Sheppard(2nd pro bowl), & Brian Dawkins(6th pro bowl).

Brian Westbrook, L.J. Smith and Jeremiah Trotter were named as alternates.

Sheppard and Dawkins
Also make it.

I'm really, really happy for Lito this year.  He looked awful last season -- the guy everyone was beating for big plays. Now, he's the one making the big plays.  Until the last two games, I'd have said he was the Eagles defensive player of the year, easily.  But #20's made a very strong case for himself.

All I want for Christmas is an Eagles win.

Romo certainly deserves it
the guy has the highest qb rating in the conference, much better than Grossman's.

You'll find out first hand xmas day why he was voted to the team.

He may deserve a Pro Bowl bid
but I'm more concerned with containing Jones and Barber.  If we do that, we've got a chance to win.

It's tough
When those other QBs had to start a full season...

QB Rating?
I guess trailing in every other possible category means nothing.. after all, he's got a QB rating for a few games!

few?
try half the season, thats a little bit more than a few.

regardless
he's still the 2nd best qb in the NFC.

Over the past 6 or 7 games maybe...
Oh wait, that's nearly his whole starting career...

He's on a pace to throw twenty INTs in a full season. Twenty! He's thrown for more than one INT per start and under 200 yards a game... I don't even see where he has the numbers over the games he did start to make the pro bowl.

At least he has that QB rating over a half season to fall back on...

actually
Romo averaged 250 yds per game so i don't where you're getting your numbers. If his numbers were that bad, he wouldn't have such a high qb rating, how do you think the qb rating is determined?

by Terry @ Bleeding Green Nation on Dec 20, 2006 3:49 PM EST up reply actions

that explains it
because Romo has played in every game, the first six not at qb but only as the holder for FG and XP. Thats why his yds passing per game is so low, his passing yards are being averaged over 14 games instead of 8.

BTW, he might be on pace to throw 20 INT's over 16 games, but he also is on pace to throw 32 TD passes. They both sound like Brett Farve numbers to me and I remember that guy making a few pro bowls in his day.

When he was making pro bowls
He wasn't throwing 20 picks...

thats not true
Farve has always thrown a lot of picks his whole career, thats always been his biggest weakness and why he is called a gunslinger. He'll make a lot of big plays, but he'll also make some bad throws as a result.

I'll take 10 picks for Romo's first 8 games  starting as I'm extremely confident that number will go down once he really learns how to play. Romo is just learing the qb position, which should be scary for you and the rest of the league.

Just learning?
I'm sure Brian Dawkins would be happy to teach him a lesson on Sunday.

Westbrook
I thought there'd be more chatter about Westbrook not making the team.  see http://eagleschronicles.blogspot.com for my take on this.

I thought it was a snub
Like I said, it's possible that all of the NFC pro bowl RBs won't make the playoffs...
