Jason Short, LB aka "Full Throttle" Released

What impact will this have on special teams? Coverage units haven't been up to par this season, although according to the article Short was one of the points leaders in Jim Harbaugh's shadowy scoring system.

Could they pick up someone who could provide better depth on defense? I've seen Keith Adams' name thrown around the EMB quite a bit, although he still plays for the Dolphins as far as I or the Dolphins know, and there's some clamoring for JR Reed and Ed Jasper, too.

Does it mean more playing time for one of our current inactives? Moats? (no way!) Avant?

All we ever heard is how high the Eagles were on what Short was doing on special teams. Maybe this is a way to keep McCoy active on gameday?

Why?

McCoy has played very little if at all. Had he been listed as inactive the past two games or was he "Bunklied"? I think his shoulder's bothering him, part of, but most likely not all of the reason he's been so ineffective.
